is this herpes?
That looks like herpes. Couple people on this site had similar bumps on their area and got tested confirming herpes
Do u know how long herpes takes to show up?
Typically between 24 hours to 21 days after exposure. Though for some it can lay dormant for months or years before the first outbreak. It’s a logical certainty that many die without ever having outbreaks at all or knowing they carried the virus, so it can be tricky sometimes to get the full picture.
But I would say the majority of the time, if you’re just one of the unlucky ones to get outbreaks (for factors not yet understood, though there are some theories), I’d say about 70% of the time the first outbreak will happen between 1 to 14 days after exposure.
what did it start out as?
it started as a rash and now i have a lot of those ulcers. i got tested yesterday and the results are coming in a week. im not sure what to do for pain right now though.
any other symptoms?
white discharge
looks like an outbreak yes.
is it painful?
has anyone had a negative blood test and positive swab test?
looks like herpes
blood test are fairly inaccurate especially early in the diagnosis. swabs of a lesion are more accurate.
blood tests come out negative during the first 3 or so months because your body has not built up enough antibodies. thats why its so important to get the sore swabbed when you notice it
thanks for the replies, the timeline would be closer to 8-9 months so i asked my doctor her thoughts. she seems to think folliculitis, since it was only one bump, and the blood test was negative, she said she doesnt expect the swab to show up anything. just as a precautionary since i was so freaked out!
UPDATE: got swab done and full std panel… everything came back negative. i no longer have symptoms of this it just cleared up. So please tell me what was this???
how soon did u test after exposure it can take 16 weeks for antibodies to build up if u tested before that it could be unreliable
i tested a month and a half after exposure they took a blood test and my doctor took a swab with fluid from that area.
HSV takes 6 weeks max, a test would be able to detect for sure at 6 weeks. Either way getting tested again this week because it would be two months already
the only std that could take 16 weeks is HIV
12 to 16 weeks for herpes because it takes a while for antibodies to build up
