I am new to this site / I have been to numerous doctors and specialists and no one can solve my problem.
I get stomach pains approx. 50mm above my belly button then about 1/2 hr later the pains move to area below belly button, then approx, 1hr later i have to go to the toilet.
i have noticed lately that this occurs after a largish meal of pasta or baked chips or steamed rice and the pains begin approx. 16 -18hrs later
Does anyone have any clues as to what is going on?.
i have had this problem for about 6yrs now.
Thanks
Ask your doctor about IBS. What tests have you had? Are you getting diarrhoea/constipation or incomplete bowel movements? Try cutting out the foods that are bringing on the pain. Look at the Fodmap diet.
Are your bowels hard or soft?
You say about 50mm's above your belly button so it seems to me that you are talking about the stomach more that the gut area but then you have them underneath after..hmm..
I had sharp pain to my stomach for a while due to diabetic gastropearasis(slow digestion) and the food use to sit in there and created all kind of issues, such,as, acid reflux build-up and and stomach lining erosion and sharp pains. Domperidone did the trick for me.
For the gut I got prescribed Constella for IBS-C.
I find that the whole gastric ensemble need to work in sync,I mean if your stomach is giving you problems trouble , it could affect the bowels and vice-versa.
Do you take any bulking agents? or any type of fiber supplement? Eliminating on a regular basis could greatly improve your pains.
Charles. I am sure I would get severe stomach pain if I chose to eat what you have quoted. I think you need to change your diet drastically and eat much smallerr amounts.rr
Sounds like you have identified for yourself the trigger foods that cause your problems- try avoiding large prtions of pasta, chips and rice. All have high amounts of carbohydrates If that solves the problem , you've sorted it.

Thanks for your response Pippa
I am getting Diarrhoea, i have been on the fodmap diet for the last 4yrs.
My dilemma is that i really do not know exactly which food are causing the problem. I was on a Gluten free diet for a approx. 2yr,
3 weeks ago i had a largish Gluten free pasta with Gluten free bread for dinner, then the next day, 2 Gluten free toast for breakfast and i got bad stomach cramps followed by diarrhoea at about 2pm.
So i have stopped the Gluten free diet.
Where i get confused is that, can meal 18hrs before cause cramps and diarrhoea?. The same thing has happened 3 times in the last 2 weeks.
I am scared to eat, my wght has dropped to 49kg and i was 57kg.
Not sure what to do.
Hi Jan. thanks for your response, 2 nights ago i did exactly what you suggested eg i had a very small amount of pasta, now i only weigh 49kg, and i was still hungry after i dumped most of my pasta, but yesterday i got the same problems stomach pains and Diarrhoea. My question is, can a trigger food cause problems 16-20 hrs later? or could be that i am eating something for breakfast the next morning that is causing the problem?. I normally have 2 normal bread toast, 1 boiled egg, and a cup of coffee.
Avoid lactose and fructose and ask your doctor to be tested for these intolerances. Ask to see a dietician and keep a food diary. Many are helped by Fodmap but some are not. Perhaps Fodmap is not working for you. Junk food and fizzy drinks may also cause trouble. Maybe there is something in the gluten free products that is disagreeing with you.
