I'm worried this could be serious, possibly skin cancer, if someone can advise their thoughts please. Picture below:

Hi Carl I have skin cancer in the shape of basal and squamus cell carcinomas.  Is the brown spot raised,  is it sore, does it bleed has it grown or changed shape since first noticing it.  Any of these get it checked out by a doctor always better safe than sorry.  I left it too long and have to date undergone 10 surgeries to remove carcinomas.  Take it from one who knows get it checked.

It's sad to hear, sorry for your situation. The brown spot has always been slightly raised, the red marks uderneath are the changes i've noticed in my skin. They don't seem to be attached to the mole, but it is sore, that might be because I noticed them drunk and pushed them quite hard on several occasions.

Sorry to make this clear, the mole isn't sore and it hasn't changed shape, this whole issue is with the appearance of the redness underneath. Thanks

Hi Carl,

I first noticed small streaks of blood on my husband's towel.  He said he had had a pimple on the end of his nose.  When this happened a third time I decided to  investigate further.  I needed a magnifying glass and good light to see that there was a very small abnormality.  There seemed to be a minute hole surrounded by skin that didn't look quite right.  We got it checked by our GP who referred him to a skin specialist but not as an emergency because he did not think it was anything sinister.  After several weeks we saw a consultant who said he thought it was a basal cell carcinoma.  As another patient had not turned up his colleague suggested taking it off there and then.  When the tissue was tested it was indeed a basal cell carcinoma.  Fortunately, this is not as serious as malignant melanoma.  I was the one who insisted we get it checked out.  My husband did not think it was worth bothering the doctor about.  He now knows that anything suspicious should be checked.  

Good luck with yours.  Hope it turns out not to be cancerous but if it is it is better  to catch these things early when they can be successfully treated. My husband has not further skin cancers to date.

Thank you for sharing your experience Katlin, I will get this checked out as you can never be too careful.  I'm pleased to hear your postiivie story.
