Help PIP severe back issues & recently diagnosed with addisons

Hi just needing some advice. I have been suffering with severe back problems for 2+ yrs now, i injured myself at work resulting in 2 bulging compressed discs compressing the nerves on either side, i have had numerous procedures to try help with the pain but nothing works, i have recently had part of my discs removed & my situation is getting worse by the day. I currently get low rate disability &mid rate care it. However i have been diagnosed with addisons disease, would it be worth me trying to apply for high rate mobility as my condition is not improving just worse. It as stopped me from doing any normal activities of daily living, i cannot walk for longer than few mins & i am in constant agony with this. Any help/advice would be great thanks

Hi Nicola, i would apply for the high rate of PIP, your entitled to it.  You should also apply for a BLue Badge as it will make your life so much easier when your out and about. I wish you well and every sucess for the future. Take care. x

Thanks for the reply, would you just contact them & advise them of changes to see if it would be increased or could i risk loosing all entitlement? I struggled to initially be awarded thecomponant & originally got low rate but i asked for reconsideration as the person i seen for assessment didnt put in the report what i said, this took a while to be ammeded to mid rate of care & low mobility which i should receive high rate mobility i think personally. Thanks nic

Yes Nicola you should definatley be entitled to the high rate PIP.  Its always the same the people who genuinley need it have to fight for ir, it is totally all wrong, they should reacess your grade and give you the higher rate that your rightfully due. Best wishes and i hope you get what your rightfully due with PIP. x

Many thanks for the reply, i will give them a ring but unsure if i would have to reapply or if i just ring & tell them my circumstantes have got worse.

I am on really high doses of morphine constantly & going to be left with this pain for life, & at some point will be having major surgery to fully remove both discs completely. Thanks again nic

leave well alone till it runs out

then claim the higher rate but do not apply and fill the forms your self

get help for fightback4justice  .

there lega leagles and no about from filling

Hi nicholak14, go for it, but to make sure you get it go to a charity that helps people fill out these forms as they are a minefield.  I allways go to a charity here in Norfolk and they have been great and I've never had a problem getting what I need including high rate motorbility.

Good luck.

Thanks guys, i have spoke to the dwp PIP & they are sending a change of circumstances form to complete out to me.

I have got worse & cannot walk a few steps without been in constant agony, i take very high doses morphine along with a cocktail of other medications & now been investigated for having addisons disease, along with this i am under a neurologist & have found something on my spine that looks benign & could be thickened ligaments but unsure. I struggle doing anything for myself & have help from my partner & son constantly. I will ask cab to help fill in my form as i did this on first attempt. Im hoping i should qualify for high rate mobility. Thanks

hi i would apply for the higher rate if i was you, you have nothing to lose, you are supposed to notify them if your condition gets worse or better, i have klippef feil syndrome from birth, was on high mobility and middle care for years then my condition got worse, i notifyed them and went straight on to high care, hope this helps.
