Hi, my name is Danielle, I'm 24, for the past 3 weeks I've been taking venlafaxine (antidepressant) and propranolol (beta blocker) for the past 4weeks I've been unable to sleep or eat properly as even though I've been taking propranolol for 3 weeks in still having what seems like panic attacks, i am unable to fall asleep until 5-6am every morning....its getting to the point where I'm getting scared of sleep, like I'm wasting away my life sleeping, but in the back of my mind i know i need it......i just don't know what to do anymore, I'm past breaking point and gone into suffering, and i am, I'm suffering now from lack of sleep, exhaustion, not enough food......and i feel anxious and panicky all the time, especially at night.
I've tried a lot of tips from very helpful people on here....but right now its 4:22am and i want to sleep :'( please can anyone help???? I'm begging now, please!!!!!!
Hi Danielle, I hope you are feeling a bit better now. I would have replied if I was awake earlier.
I also take propranolol (half inderal - 80mg) is yours the same?
I've been taking them for about 4-5 months now and I remember at the beginning I have weird side affects. These kinds of pills take time getting used to and you tend to feel worse before you get better.
I'm also 24.. If you wana talk more feel free to pm me
Hi Danielle,
have you tried sleeping tablets. Maybe your Dr can recommend one or even get some help from a pharmacist.
Richard
Hi Richard, I've asked and asked 3 different doctors for sleeping tablets and all have said they cant give them to me so I'm at a loss, i don't know if its because of my other medication or what, they've just said no, and I've gone there in some pretty desperate states.
I tried advice of trying a different doctor twice but all have said no and I'm not sure if i can get something from the pharmacy off the shelf, most say don't take with propranolol anyway, plus i had a really bad experience on citalopram (which i don't take anymore) where i took a sleeping tablet recommend by a pharmacist and it said take 20 minutes before bed, so i did and went to bed 20 minutes later and i had a horrendous panic attack just when the sleeping tablet was supposed to kick in, it scared me from taking another.....if my doctor would recommend a prescription one im sure id have more trust in it.
I just don't know how to convince them to put me on one, until then im going to have to keep trying what im trying, although more often than not these lead to me being up till the early hours and more anxious.
Don't know what to do.
Danielle
I think that if your Dr recommends no sleeping tablets then its for a reason. How about a hot chocolate or Horlicks before bed and maybe read a book before you go to sleep. That always tires me out.
Richard
