HELP! should I start taking Mirtazapine?

Hi, I've just come across this site and could really do with some advice.

I've been on anti-depressants for about 10 years now (prozax and untill now seroxat), however, due to feeling desperately suicidal over the last few days the doctor has just prescribed me Mirtazipine. I'm a bit worried not only about changing from seroxat to Mirt but am also concerned about some of the side effects that I've read about (particularly weight gain). Does anybody have any advice because I don't really know who to talk to about this?????

Just found the site myself, I've been on seroxat myself took duloxetine and have been on mirtazapine for a week now.

I was suicidal and have found apart from some wierd dreams and being dizzy with the first tablet for the first hour or so haven't had any -ve side effects as yet.

Haven't weighed myself but haven't found appetite increased at all. Not feeling anywhere near as suicidal can still get over anxious and nervous but only just started so probably expecting a bit much.

:hi ihave been on anti d ;ss 4 bout13 years now mainly prozac seroxat citrolapram in and out of work panic attacks days not wanting to do anything and when i couldnt cope with bad times in my life suicide yes that bad my doc did not perscribe mirtazapine i got them via the net took 15mg for 3 weeks didnt feel too good but stuck in there to let them get in my system wat a difference id split with my partner after 12 years i went back to work )managed to sort out lots of depts ect still have my days where i cant cope wi phone calls or bills n stress[but these are 4 me the best pills i have ever had wish i had them 13 years ago not all medication will work the same 4 everyone but im glad i gave it a try dont care if i have to take this 4 ever/quote]good luck to all dont give up hope i nearly did x
