Help! Still having side effects from citalopram after 6 weeks of changing brands

Please could anyone help me? I’ve been on citalopram for years, but recently had to swop brands because mine were no longer manufactured. Since then I’ve had shakes, dry mouth, heightened anxiety, loss of appetite, felt tired and spaced out and burning hot flushes. I’m also crying daily. It seems relentless. I dont want to swop again incase it all starts from day one again. Has anyone else had side effects for this long? Is it normal? I feel like it’s never ending. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you 🙏

Hmmm.i change brands all the time and I don't seem to get those issues..

I've also never had any issues with brand switches.

It sounds to me like the citalopram is no longer working for you; whether it's from the brand switch or it just "pooped out" on you, it's hard to say.

What dose are you on? Sometimes, people will find if they increase the dose, the medication becomes effective for them again.

I was on 40 mg. of citalopram for 5 years when it quit working for me. I had some of the symptoms you described. Basically, it felt like I was taking a sugar pill rather than a pill that had previously worked so well for me. I plodded along for 7 weeks, hoping it would get better, and then ended up switching to a very low dose of escitalopram a week and a half ago. Jury's still out on whether or not that will work for me:-).
