hello
I have been struggling with anxiety for years now. This period of anxiety started end of August. I have been in contact with my gp since september and I have spoken with her at least once per week until recently. I have applied for therapy again as well.
I an taking 45mg mirtazapine at night. In the morning I am taking herbal supplements to try and help. these are kalms valerian root, ashgwaddha, lavender and chamolie tablets. I did check with my pharmacist to see if they were ok and they said it was.
Does anyone have ways to deal with "what if..." type of thoughts?
What goals can be set for therapy? I know they need to be specific but I do not know what to say as a goal.
Goals are normally positive in tone. of course in the beginning you can tell the counselor about the water thinking and then discuss the goals.
so instead of saying I want to get rid of what if thoughts, here are some examples of goals ..
- I would like to have peace of mind.
- I would like to focus more on the positive thoughts
- I would like to manage my anxiety better ( what if thoughts are part of anxiety. )
4.I would like to be more in control of my thoughts.
- I would like to feel more joy and contentment in my life . I really want to enjoy my life .
those are just some examples. Maybe you could think of others also.
Remember One thing about anxiety is that overthinking, what if thinking, worry, are similar to rocking in a chair. That’s because you’re keeping busy, but you’re not getting anywhere.
I’m glad that you’re going to get some counseling. Just open up and tell the counselor everything you’re thinking because that way when they have that knowledge they can help you more. Try to keep going to counseling even when you start to feel better because sometimes people can have a little setbacks. It’s great that you are being proactive! Feel better
