hello I took mezalazine for 20 years, I was having a lot of flare ups and tests show I have a 12 inch stricture/narrowing I was put on azaphapine but I felt so tired and the soles of my feet felt like I was walking on pins. My specialist changed my tablets to mercaptorurine 2x 50 mg daily originally I was on one tablet and I wasn't too bad since the increase I have the side affects that I had with the azathaprine the tiredness is the main problem I've tried to not let it stop me doing what I want in my leisure time but it's starting to become more difficult as I also gave a full time job to keep down I just want to go to bed as soon as I get in these side effects seem to not be uncommon how do people cope with the side effects ? The only alternative is a operation any advise please ? Jon
Ive joined this forum tonight as im due to start taking Azathioprine pretty soon, i am absolutely petrified of all the side affects, the cancers, and low immunity is worrying me sick... i have two young children and know i need to do whatever i can for them as well as myself, i dont want them to have a poorly mummy who is feeling sick and achy all the time...
My crohns is in my terminal illeum and is active following a sample result showing inflammation levels of 448 (normal is 1-60) so im guessing mine is pretty high.
I feel 100% fine in myself which is why im so scared to take something when i feel 'normal'
Hello yes I had the same concerns when I started to take this drug but for the alternative was and still is major surgery and if you have the op they more than likely would put me on them afterwards the sore feet and tiredness was just too much for me but you may be ok ? The new tablets are proving to be the same as they are in the same family I didn't take them last night and I don't think I will take any over the weekend as I'm fed up of feeling tired constantly if I ring my specialist I will have to have an operation discuss with yours what the alternatives are Jon
Hi, I stopped the Azathioprine after 2 weeks as it made me feel really ill sickness and the other condition that follows through was like I have never experienced took me 5 weeks to recover obviously not the drug for my condition. I think that if the drug suits you for your illness it is fine but can't see the point off taking it when it makes you so I'll. May be worth trying and if you start to feel ill then just stop. Some people it works really well. Good luck
I use the drug I mentioned which is in the same family as azathapine the Crohns pain is under control its the tiredness I'm struggling with I have stopped taking them for the past two days rightly or wrongly
