Help with my symptoms ! Really Scared !

Hello my name is Jerry and i just want to ask about my symptoms so that i can reassure my safety. First of all my exposure was Insertive Oral Sex w/ a gay guy (he had a tongue piercing)it was on 2012. he said it was scary for him to have anal sex because it was very risky for HIV. So i concluded that he was not infected.

Now in 2014 i remembered it happend and was scared at my risk i did some research regarding the symptoms of HiV the ARS etc. And had some of the symptoms like:

1.) A rash on my hands,arms,and back. I don't know what it is but i didn't have them before 2012 and i don't know if it's Boils , Acne , Folliculitis or Maculopapular rash. (i remembered a friend asked me in 2013 if i had a measles but i didn't have measles and my arms had many scars).

2.)Temporary memory loss. i asked my mom about this in 2013 and she said it maybe Dementia. Now i searched dementia and it was 1 of the symptoms of HIV. (But my hunch is that it had something to do with my ADHD).

3.) I had a really bad sore throat in 2013-2014 it felt like a ball stuck in my throat i searched it on the net i found out that it was Pharyngitis and it was 1 of the symptoms of HIV. (my hunch is that it's cricopharyngeal spasm related to my TMJ).

4.) I always lose breath when talking to someone like 1 sentence then i'm out of breath i didn't have this back in 2012.

5.) In 2013 i had a pin pricking sensation like when i get emotional like angry,excited,nervous i get the pin pricking sensation like mosquito bite.

6.) Now in september 23 2014 i had a 2 large lymph nodes on my neck it's not noticable but it really hurts it does not have a follow up symptoms like fever,night sweats etc. it just randomly showed up!.

I really need your advise on my symptoms cause i don't want to get tested because i'm only 17 living with my parents if i tell them that i want to get tested it will fuel up depression in my family i'm an only son and my mom has a issue with depression. i just want an assurance.

I didn't have some of the symptoms in 2012-2014 like Fever/Cold, Vomitting/nausea/diarhea,Tonsilitis,cold sores, Canker sores,weight loss Night sweats.

(i searched that being infected by oral sex is lower compared to people getting hit by a meteorite. But i want to make sure.)

Hi Jerry

Whilst I doubt that the risk "is less than getting hit by a meteorite" you are obviously worried.  I have no idea about your "symptoms" but would guess that worrying is making them more obvious.  They may be unconnected to anything.

What does - to some degree - worry me is that you feel that at 17 you need to involve your parents in "testing".  I would simply suggest that you go to your GP [it will be 100% confidential] or a STI clinic

The problem is i have no money to consult any doctors that's why i'm only checking some Internet Doctors for advices. 

The thing with the Meteor is a theory that i've read about Oral Sex HiV risk it said that "The possibility of having Hiv in oral sex is 1 out of 5000." But it's not Zero Risk

I would guess that you are right about the risk being 1 in 5000 but I doubt that the risk of being hit by a meteorite is that low!!!

Hi Jerry, Your post describes a low risk encounter. The internet is great, but you can type the same symptoms along with practically any other disease and it will show as a symptom of that too. Try it. "maralia, cancer, ebola, elephantitis" - SO don't try to diagnose yourself via the net, it'll just scare you.

Point is your symptoms could be anything from nerves to an alergy problem or comon bug, to who knows. The only way to be cartain is to be tested after the suggested time after contact. Typically 60-90 days. You can get anonymous testing done at a local std clinic (or a clinic in the next town). Then educate yourself because you don't want to worry after each encounter. Good luck to you and always play safe.

Hi Jerry.

I had a needle prick injury at work 10 weeks ago that left me with a great deal of anxiety. All the ladies bloods( who the needle had been used on) came back negative so initially I breathed a sigh of relief.

While waiting for my own results I started worrying about my past,,,and the people I had slept with and if course I hit google up for symptoms. It's amazing what you symptoms your mind can conjure up and the things you find and feel on your body when you are looking for it.

Well anyway,between my fantastic imagination and the help of Google,I convinced myself I had HIV. I don't mean I thought I could have it,in my mind I literally had it.

I was a mess. Ringing the clinic every day but not really wanting to know what they had to say.

When the nurse rang me and told me I was clear for everything,I didn't even have so much as a infected pimple,I cried with relief.

Please don't torment yourself as I did. Go get yourself checked out before this takes your mind to a place that you will struggle to get back from.

There are no guarantees but chances are you are going through all this for nothing xxx

Now i feel relieved thanks to your advice. I'll move on from now i think i might get a test as soon as i have a job
