On Feb 6 I had unprotected sex with a woman I barely know. About 2 days later my penis looked as though it was shedding a slight layer of skin around the top area. Also it slightly tingled when I urinated. Not a burn but a noticeable tingle. I had some amoxicillin and started with 2 per day and after a few days all seemed well. No other symptoms of any kind. The amoxicillin ran out so I stopped. About 12 days later(a total of 20 days from the sex) the tingle came back and it often felt like someone had flicked the tip of penis. Also my penis skin was clearly not happy. Just seemed irrated feeling no blisters nothing like that. On the 28 I went to an Urgent Care and the staff there looked me over. Did not see anything to think I had HSV 2. They prescribed Doxycycline and took blood to send off for STD testing. This is now 27-28 days from intercourse. I’m a nervous wreck but after the antibiotics I start feeling better. I go back for the results and everything negative except HSV-1. They suggest I may have HSV-2 since I’m clearly with STD symptoms and recommend an anti viral. They suggest to stay on antibiotics and get retested in a few months. I was actually feeling better overall until then. I have not started the Valtrex since I have no feeling or signs of an out break. As of today the symptoms I am experiencing are overall slight skin discomfort, on and around penis, some tingling and the most concerning is the swollen lymph nodes in genital area and in neck. The swollen nodes is a mid to late day feeling and doesn’t really start until antibiotics are taken.
I will I’ll add the sex partner denies having anything. Not to judge but not sure if I believe her. AND... I should have known better about the unprotected sex.
All this his research makes worse because I keep reading that not having symptoms is more common than an outbreak.
Anybody go through this?
