Help with understanding thyroid result

Hi I had my thyroid tested and was asked to come in to see the doctor which I did yesterday but the origional doctor i saw was unavailable and the doctor i saw didn't leave me feeling like I have answers. She wouldn't tell me my results and said that my test showed hypothyroidism but apparently my hormone levels are normal. She was unsure whether to offer treatment but after I ended up in tears explaining how rubbish I feel lately she prescribed a low dose of the hormone tablet (levosomething lol) 25mg and said to see How I go and to be 're tested in 3 months. I decided to call and request my results ager someone suggested I do this so I can track how I feel compared to the numbers. These are the results...

Serum 3T4 - 14.1

Serum TSH - 10.88

Antithyroid Peroxidase Antibody - 262

Can anyone help me understand what this means. Does this mean i have hypothyroidism? Are these levels in the normal range?

Ignore the couple of random bits about calling the doctor i was copying and pasting the wrong bit and forgot to delete that bit off lol!

That TSH is pretty high and well out of normal range. Should not be above 4. So yes you are hypo and need the medication. It will take a few weeks to work and you should get tested again in three months as you may need the dosage adjusting.

Thank you. Wish the doctor was more straight to the point like you lol I just came out feeling confused. She nearly didn't give me any medication.

Hi Laura this forum is good but go to a forum called health unblocked you will get specialists who deal with thyroid on this .. they have been a god send to me .
