Help withdrawal from mirtazapine

How long withdraws last and weight loss. Also palpitations, night sweats, tremors, no sleep.  Help  3 days off mirtazapine.

Hi sorry your feeling like this I came off these 4 months ago felt absolutely fine weight dropped off with in days but haven't slept and can't sleep it's so frustrating as I lie awake for hours I don't want to go back on them but some nights I would love to take one just so I can sleep

Hope you feel better soon x

What dose are you coming down from? I'm down to 1.875mg from 45 and had the same issues when I initially came down. Everyone's different but for me the symptoms lasted for a month or 2 then gradually lessened. I still have some bad days now but for the most part those symptoms have gone away.

Hi Terez.

Please, tell us more history about your experience with Mirtazapine. There are kind people here who can reassure you, support you but even advice you how to proceed. What dose were you on? For how long? Did you taper down slowly or just stopped cold turkey? Please, calm down, you are definity not going mad, it is Mirtazapine causing this

Ok here's the story mike:  I am bipolar.  Just got a new doctor.  Didn't know he would be rude when I explained the bad effects I was having on two major drugs...first he put me on seroquel 100mg.  I became very ill, so he put me directly on mirtazapine at 30mg. I had the same side effects I had on Seroquel.  Seroquel was the worse.

Withdrawing from Mirtazapine:

went from 30mg to 15mg then 7.5mg. Lastly I dropped to 3.75mg

then I stopped.  Then again I started into withdrawl.  Same bad effects only worse.  No sleep, stomach upset hard to eat anything, night sweats, tremors, mild palpitations etc.  Some food for thought. I had been on Gabapentin for approximately 2 years.  I was on a low dose used for pain,

I started reading the drug I used to take.  I just refilled my script.  It has not only helped my pain but is attending nicely in helping with some of the withdrawal symptoms.  I take 300mg. three times a day.  It relaxes me .

i do thank you for replying back.  Keep in touch.  Let me know you are doing.  You might want to check Gabapentin.  It helped me.  Of course

your dosage might not be the same as mine, but remember everyone is different.  Good luck and God bless

I know the feeling.  It is now 3:30am still no sleep along with a culmination of the rest of mess I find myself in.deep regret.  Between taking Seroquel and Mirtazapine I am likely to go mad.  These are very invasive drugs and not to,be taken lightly.  So RESEARCH will be part of my increasing knowledge against these awful drugs.  After all, who knows your mind and body as you do.  I refuse to be some wacko doctor's guinea pig.!!!

Thank you Jolene for your help.

Hi Neogenx,

i pretty much explained my experience to Mike just above you.  I am no novice when it comes went mind altering drugs.  I am bipolar and taken a lot drugs in the past 30years. I was so naive back then. . Guess I still am now except if a drug causes grief, I don't stay on it long: nevertheless, I still get withdrawl. I weaned myself properly as directed by me.  My doctor would not help.  He knew I was getting serious side effects from Seroquel and Mirtazapine.  For 6 months he turned a deaf ear on me.  As a result I

Went to a heart specialist that said I should be on those drugs.  He put me on beta blockers.  So there you have it.  A Doctor, but of no,help to me. I want to thank you for your reply.  It is much welcomed.

It sounds as though you have come off the mirtazapine far too quickly. I took over 4 months to come off 30mg of mirt. I decreased my dose every two weeks at first, then ten days and finally a week at each dose. I made a homemade liquid to titrate the last few mg. I came off the las 2 mg at a rate of 0.2mg every few days. I had no withdrawals doing it that slowly. I had initially tried to come off it at a similar rate that you have and had to go back on it after ten days of terrible withdrawals. Slow and steady is the key with this drug. Personally, I would reinstate a small dose and start again from there. Good luck.

Hi I went cold turkey had no withdrawals what so ever then about a month ago had trouble sleeping still the same tbh think it's getting worse doctor recommended going back on matazapine but I really don't want to I feel fine apart from not being able to fall asleep got some sleep Eze from chemist they seem to work but don't want to rely on them
