HI got a call today from housing checking to see if I still lived in there property they asked did I still live alone and am I still getting housing benefit seems like a strange call anyone no why they made that call surely they should no I'm still there
Hi,
No one could possibly know why they have asked this question, other than them their self.
Is this the property that you have just moved into? As in your other post you stated you had recently moved out from living with your father?
Has you dad changed the address yet with PIP and ESA? If not then this could be the reason why they are calling you asking you this question. DWP and local councils have contact with each other and will share information. If your address hasn't been changed with DWP and you're still down as living with your dad then ask your dad to ring them to change the address. This should have been done when you moved.
It could be to do with the spare room charge, if you have more than one bedroom and live alone and on benefits you will have to pay the extra room fee, or if you have just moved into your fathers house then they might be wondering if you have sub letted the house/flat
The bedroom tax only applies if you live in social housing, it doesn't apply if you privately rent.
Daz moved out from his dads, not in with him.
