Hello everyone, I am new to this group.. about two years ago I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder and anxious distress. I was put on serataline 100mg and I have been fine since then. However over the past week I decided that I was feeling much better and decided to wean off the medication. And for three days in a row I completely forgot to take it. Now I have been feeling with an extremely urge to cry and I feel like I’m out of it. Also my negative thoughts came back and my fears..
Any suggestions?
TIA
Yes. I would advise to go back on the sertraline. and wean off it very slowly...you cant just stop taking it...Doing that will give you all sorts of weird symptoms...good luck with it...x
I hope that your doctor is aware you are tapering off your meds. Some people experience discontinuation syndrome, so get annoying effects like getting angry, teary, headaches or having buzzing in their head if they come of ssris too quickly. It can look like your depression or anxiety is returning but in actual fact it is just your brain trying to rebalance. Speak to your Dr about how to taper off without getting these effects but also be aware that just because you are feeling better doesn't necessarily mean that you still don't need the meds. You will know after a few months off them whether it was the right decision or not....
