I have severe health anxiety started a few months ago had a regular sti screening my results came back normal apart from an equivocal result on hep c but the lab reports are saying negative they have tested me twice both times equivocal has anyone had this my anxiety is so severe right now please help...
Kelly, if you are having sex, PLEASE PLEASE PLASE PLEASE protect yourself!!! Use condoms or birth control whatever you gotta do! Now for your lab results.. They are negative.. But for the equivocal results i cannot interpret whether or not this means you have hep c or not because it means that the test wasnt able to clearly show positive or negative results. If the lab reports are coming back negative.. Then you most likely dont have hep c. If the doctors keep getting mixed results they might keep doing some more tests. They might have to some aggressive testing to make sure you dont have this disease. Pretty sure you dont have it though since the lab reports came back negative. So that might be a good sign
Oh yeah if you have health anxiety,this will make you nuts. Sometimes with some people a test will come back fuzzy and always will. In your case the word equivocal,meaning capable of varying interpretations, which could mean a false positive. My sister had 2 false positives and is just fine. Some people just test that way. You are fine,if there was any doubt they would keep testing. Having health anxiety is so dibilitating,maybe a antidepressant would really help. I know your afraid of taking meds also. Take a half and when you see that it doesn't kill you , then you might keep on taking them. You can do this!!! and feel good again.
Iv spoke with the nurse she said she sees thousands of these tests and she told me to try and not worry because the lab results are coming back negative she said a simple virus can make it come back equivocal another blood test booked for next week to retest.... did ur sister get the all clear in the end did she find out what was making her result a faulse possitive would be nice to chat x
