Hi everyone, I just wanted to share my experience and hope that maybe it will help others. I am day 7 post op from having a hemorrhoidectomy and a fistulotomy. The pain the first few days can be rough, but what I found to be very helpful was that I started taking metimucil and drinking tons of water about a week before my surgery so that my stool was already soft. I also recommend getting a stool to prop your feet up a bit during bowel movements. Using a heating pad under my bum was also very soothing. I also keep a gauze pad with numbing ointment between my cheeks to help with the pain. Everyday has gotten a bit better and the pain is now very tolerable day 7. There is light at the end of the tunnel! Take the 1st week and just be kind to yourself, rest and this to shall pass. Sending everyone light and love!
