I'm not living and even not spending my exhausted painful life, but just extending my desperate moments between bathroom and bed since 8 weeks ago when i went through this stupid procedure. Just like a fool, believed my surgeon's comments as well as reading those rubbish medical websites that stated THE RECOVERY TIME from hemorrhoid surgery is 2-4 weeks (or 4 to 8 weeks, somewhere else!) I have nothing to say as everything about so many complications due to this surgery have been said by so many many others (unbearable pain, tenesmus, pressure in anal, constipation......) Just two very important things:

  • This is a very long recovery time (months)...It is obviously NOT 2 to 6 or 8 weeks....Don't be fooled by SURGEONS and their shops (hospitals) and their e-shops (websites).

  • If you suffer from stages 1 and 2, PLEASE do not go through this stupid surgery! Solve your problem non-surgically...

Allen, I agree with you 100%. I am about 5 months post op and I’m still not 100%. Granted I’m about 98% but every once in awhile I have a related issue. I had another HEM a few weeks ago and the doc said he could do the same procedure again. I told him “NO F-ing way”. I will never have it done again unless there is truly no other choice or a medical emergency.

I sometimes read about the small minority who breeze through it. Im envious of them. But its a SMALL minority, don’t be fooled! For most people its a rough ride.

Agreed, having gone through this surgery 3 times (latest was in September of this year) I can say it takes closer to 6 months to fully recover. Some things I have learned to use post op;

  • Sits baths,
  • Medication that treats chronic constipation (softer stools reduce pain in general),
  • Increased water intake, like way more,
  • Walking.

Unless hems become infected or pose a risk dude to excess bleeding the surgery is just to damn painful and filled with complications to consider.

Full recovery 3 month, after suffering for 20 years, wish I did sooner, most important thing is to have the most qualified surgeon do the procedure…

Can’t stress that enough, although it’s considered minor surgery getting a pro at hems is essential.
