I am writing this being 3 days post op. I required an unplanned hemorrhoidectomy the day after I delivered my baby girl (apparently my vaginal delivery worsened my condition).
Pain levels are tolerable unless I've just had a BM. I find myself extremely gassy during the day and can only relieve myself in a sitz bath. This usually also results in involuntary pushing and eventually a BM.
Which leads me to this discussion....Has anyone else had extremely frequent BMs? I have at least 5 per day that are rather small in quantity. It's extremely difficult because it's very uncomfortable and afterwards I feel a throbbing that lasts for hours. Any tips on managing the pain and frequent bathroom trips?
I am going on this type of pain for 2 years now. Not from your hemorrhoidectomy, but from a total Colectomy. Burning pain every time I have a BM. Which can be as much as 5x an hour. So if anyone has answers to Linda's question, please answer. Thanks!
You r starting right with the sitz baths. I add epsom salt, baking soda, oils, lavender coconut, avacado and even baby oil. Try lidocaine gel 5% with hydrochloride or plain lidocaine. Must be prescribed by MD. Find out why frequent BM,s. May need med to stop or slow them down. Apply whatever med he has ordered to the site. You need wipes and ointment after every BM if you cant take the sitz bath after BM's. I know you have a new baby and may have time constraints. If pain continues see a specialist you may hsve an anal fissure. I hope you don't. I hope this info helps you.
