Here we go again

Morning hippies,

hope me you are all well this damp Sunday morning.

I'm an old timer on here who hasn't been around for a while due to my iPad giving up on me but now I have a date for my second op TRHR on 25th August I have splashed out on a new one to keep me occupied during the long nights that will follow.

I had my TLHR on 25th Feb this year and it was a complete success. I wish I had done it years ago. Now I am facing number 2 with none of the fear and anxiety I had first time around. I'm pain free on the left side and its marvellous!

i hope I can offer some advice to those of you who may be facing the first one or are just pre op etc. I also hope that I get to know some of you during the long nights I have ahead of me.

Take care all.

Hi Ali

im so glad the first one has been a success - at least you know what to expect this time round.

Good of luck for the 25th. ( my daughters birthday!)

hiya ali

good luck to you with your second hip.  I had my first right hip on 1st june and now my second due 5th october so will be interested to know how you get on too.

I like you wished I had done the first hip earlier and really ready for second one now so I can get my life back.

yes cant live without kindle and tablets.  it just helps during the recovery time so much and when you cant sleep at night.

Thanks ladies,

I'm certainly ready for this second op. It's the only thing holding me back now.

The 25th sounds like a good date Carol 😊

I will keep you well informed Maggie. I'm sure we will both do well 😊

welcome back Ali hope your doing fine, I had my lthr on the 21st May and am now walking outside with a stick but inside without it. Feels great no pain and 1.5 inches taller.

Good luck with the new one, but we'll be in touch before then.  Love Gill xx

Thank you, Gill.

I will indeed be in touch before then. Just starting to think about packing a bag now. The thought of being completely pain free is just too good to be true. I'm still apprehensive as no two ops are ever the same but I'm staying positive.

Glad to hear you are doing well 😊.

Good luck ali. 5 weeks post op first hip. Still recovering . This forum has been such a help especially in the early days when sleep was a stranger. I could pick up tablet and vent my frustration even if no one answered till later.

Hi Ali,

In a very similar position as you but hips the other way around- had my first THR on right side on 26 Feb and  the left is booked for 13 Aug. New hip is great, no pain on that side at all, but the other one is very painful and walking difficult due to the twist on it, so can't wait to get it sorted.

Keep venting attractac. There is always someone here to listen.

I hope you continue with your good recovery.

You are going before me, Shirley.  I look forward to hearing your good results. 13th August is the date of my pre op. I was scheduled for 20th but my husband couldn't get the time off work to be here when I get home so I put it back a little. I also wanted to get my house in order at work (secretary to clinical haematologists in the NHS) and I wanted to make sure all my patients had all they needed before I went off.

Good luck with the op.

Good luck

Hi Ali I just had the second one done last Friday, and I forgot my stick, just now and WOW I was walking, no stick ans NOPAIN....first time in 4 years, no hip pain, was a waddle not a walk, but it is still early days and my legs are the same length, No pain was the thing for me, I am getting back to normal... Kind regards Ian.

Saying Hi Ali, from deepest Cornwall. I will be following you (like some sort of hip fan) as I have just had my first on 30th June and due for next one after Christmas. I have an amazing difference on my right side and am looking forward to getting number 2 done now - funny how all that fear disappears when you know what the results can be like.

That sounds amazing, Ian. I hope to follow in your footsteps (no pun intended, honestly).

i work for the NHS and am looking forward to getting back to work afterwards, back to full strength and fulfilling my potential. I'm excited but strangely apprehensive, despite knowing how well number 1 went. Were you apprehensive too or just excited for what the future had in store for you?

Take care and keep going forward 😊

Hi Kate,

it's just amazing, isn't it and to think, I've been putting this off since 2008. All those wasted years in pain. I could kick myself, if I wasn't likely to fall over lol.

Fingers crossed for us both 😊

take care.

Hi Ali yes I was and still am a little apprehensive not counting my chickens before they hatch, I think once the wound pain is over and the dressing is removed, and can see its all going well I will relax more.

Ian.
