It’s that time of the year again when the internal hems decide to flare (usually twice a year) Following a bout of constipation yesterday I had the usual few spots of blood on tissue followed today by rectal pressure/fullness. The pattern of events is now pretty predictable. I also have an external hem that isn’t going away and treatment options are running out. The GP is having a final bash at prescribing softeners and more ointment before moving towards surgery. My question is what are the best options for treating internal hems? I’ve never tried Anusol and in the past just let them run their course for a month. Is Anusol the best or are they others worth trying? They both leak and sometimes it’s hard to distinguish which is causing the symptoms.
