[Not sure I can take much more of the upset that this hernia has given me. For the past year I have convinced myself that I am about to have a heart attack. I have chest pains like you won't believe and tingle in my fingers. All this is really getting me down
Hi,
Know how you feel, and can fully sympathise. I've just been reading through previous posts and wish more people would respond and give each other support, advise and help. So many posts have no replies at all!
I've been suffering every symptom you can think of... pain, palpitations, breathlessness, giddyness, very bad acid, and horrendous pain throughout my back, pins and needles in hands, and ringing in my ears. Very little sleep as a result, and anyway, heart rate goes through the roof when I start to nod off and wakes me up again! I feel the doctor thinks I'm a hypercondriac, but you have to keep on going, don't you? Have been on all the antiacid meds, PP inhibitors, etc, and nothing helps very much. I'm a walking chemist! Have an urgent apointment with a gastroenterologist on friday, so hope I'll get some help then. From talking to people, it seems like surgery is the way to go, and I expect to be offered this. Yesterday I heard of someone who had surgery two weeks ago and is fine now, and didn't even have to go through all the meds before she got it. Maybe a postcode lottery!?
I do hope you get sorted soon, and the same to everyone on here who's suffering so much.
I understand many people who've had successful surgery are now happily getting on with their lives so have no need to come on this forum, but please support each other, folks, and help where you can.
Hi - yes I agree we should try to help each other. You have described what I experience. Have had bad attacks for years since I was in my 20s. Back then I had sharp fleeting pains darting all around my body, as well as chest/back/jaw pain. Doubled over. Very strange - doc had never seen anything like it. After several doc callouts he said I probably was getting a funny virus! I found that taking 2 painkillers helped with the chest pain but still had all the other symptoms. Eased off in 5 days. Sometimes wake up choking - no airway. Struggle to breathe with terrible noise like a donkey then clear phlegm away.
Have re-started food combining and drinking more water. Also having no bread, cereal of any kind, dairy only miniscule amounts of milk, no booze (OH DEAR). Fruit with seeds and soya milk for breakfast, vitamin supplements. Waiting for food to go down before eating anything else. Digestion much better at the moment, just hope I can stick to it. Have to, or suffer. Still burping lots, but in a productive way, so to speak. Hope this helps. By the way, nuts don't do me any favours. I cook meat all day long in my slow cooker (£12 from local shop) in gravy and it is so tender it's like baby food.
Slow cooker? I would rather recommend making it in multicooker. Few months ago I've bought Redmond multicooker (my device is a combination of steamer, bread maker, fryer, etc) and it takes about 1 hour to make a stew, gravy or soup. Usually soft meat or chicken is ready within 1 hour.
