herpes blood test

hello I want to do blood tests for genetical herpes . If i dont have any symptoms for a month now can i do the tests or is it better when i have symptoms ? Will the blood test show 100% if i have herpes ? Is some preparation needed before the tests ? thank you :)

Nikos, what I am aware of is that in many countries of the world that large percentages of the population are known as “carriers” of herpes - so the most common symptoms that these people have is what can be termed “cold-sores” that appear around the mouth when the person is exposed to regular cold air, or their immune system is stressed. Carriers can also get outbreaks of herpes on the genitals and some of these people have never had sexual contact with anyone.
So, I take it is this you are referring to in terms of genetical herpes?
In terms of testing, in some countries they do not routinely test for naturally present herpes, if you suspect an outbreak has occurred on the genitals this test has to be specifically requested. This can be confusing because many people who get tested for STD / STI infections think they do do not have herpes when they are told the tests they had were all clear, when the actual situation is that naturally present herpes was not even tested for, or part of the tests they have received.
And, no, preparation before the test is not required - however, a Regular / Family Doctor / GP would be the best guide on how to get tested, or you could go to any Sexual Health Service and request the test …
