I was in a long term relationship that ended a few years ago. After that ended, I received unprotected oral sex once from a female roughly 6 months ago. A month and a half later, I shaved my pubic area and proceeded to aggressively masturbate multiple times a day; sometimes dry and sometimes with a lubricant. After a few days of this, I noticed some small painless bumps at the base of my shaft on the left hand side (I'm left handed, so this would be where my palm was during masturbation). I took some pictures, went to bed, and the next day they were gone. Upon inspecting the pictures I thought that I could see a hair follicle inside of the bumps, so I went to inspect the razor and it was a bit dull... so I changed the head out and wrote it off as folliculitis. I have since lost the pictures from this first event. Fast forward to last week... I did it again. Shaved the area and proceeded to masturbate multiple times a day for a few days, varying between dry and lubricated. After a few days of this, I noticed something similar. Small bumps in the same area where my palm would have been resting/creating friction during masturbation. I once again took some pictures, went to bed, and the next day they were gone. Upon inspecting the pictures, they had me a little worried... but once again... I think I see a hair follicle inside the bumps. They were painless and didn't itch or anything this time around either. Once again, I went to inspect my razor and it was dull with a little rust on it, so I threw the head away. Can somebody take a look and provide me with your opinion on whether I should be worrying or not? Is this follicles? or should I be more concerned? I've included a picture as well as a zoomed in close up because I believe that makes it easier to see the follicle within.
Could be an ingrown hair. If so the body should push it through the skin as it grows more. I suggest not shaving and letting the hair grow in that region for a bit. Also avoid shaving that area since you think that could partly be the cause. Maybe clip the hair in that area carefully with scissors in the future if you must cut it. Change hand positions during masturbation or try to be gentle.
You might need to not shave the hairs in that area so short. Use an electric trimmer or something like that. That’s what I have to use for my pubis to avoid ingrown hairs. I can use a normal bladed razor for the scrotum.
