can genital or oral herpes take 4 years to appear? i just had my first possible outbreak with no new partner in 4 years. i also have a slightly congested nose and nasal polyps that i was told may or may not be related to the herpes by my groin. is that also a symptom of an initial herpes outbreak?

Herpes can lay dormant for years. The majority of people with genital herpes actually never have a outbreak.
If you are concerned something is going on you should get a swab of the area.
