herpes testin

I have undergone igG and igM test for HSv1 and HSv2 . Both came out negative. Are these sufficient? Or do i need to have PCR tests? I do not have any blisters on penis but i have some wart like structures but they do not hurt so i dont think thats herpes.

hi, as a nursing student this is just my input/knowledge, not real medical advice: so it all depends on how long ago you think you were exposed to the herpes virus. sometimes if you test too early, your body hasnt had enough time to make antibodies against the virus. everyone’s body is different but it can take weeks before your body detects it. you can go look up the exact window period. the pcr test has a shorter testing window time but usually isnt done unless you have active sores that look a lot like herpes & are painful. if the bumps that you have do not hurt, they may be genital warts/HPV instead.
this is extremely common and almost everyone who is sexually active has an HPV at least once, most people dont show symptoms, but it can take about 2 years for your body to fight off the virus. the immune system is usually pretty good at fighting it off, about 90% of people get rid of it.
if your really worried about it, go get checked out & talk to a medical professional!!

Ran into a similar situation but i was in a relationship. Developed hpv and swore i had hsv as well. When i started to see changes in me, thats when everything kinda fell apart cause i felt crushed someone couldnt just tell me. Anyway, I developed hpv and saw my dr. got that all squared away. Then a few months went by and i started seeing other changes and i freaked out. Started testing for hsv 1 &2 back in Oct 2019, every 6-8 weeks id test again. Went in for my last and final this month which makes a year of both igm and igg and all clear. The tests are so odd cause of the years time, once i was thrown an equalval for hsv2 and i cried. It sat in the back of my mind but i overreacted as to what that term meant. Waited 6 weeks, tested and all negatives so idk what that was all about.
