Is it still possible to give my boyfriend herpes if I take the suppressive medications and use condoms 100% of the time ? If there is a risk, I would prefer to abstain from sexual activities.
yes there is a possibility. It’s never 100% for sure. Rate of transmission within a year with sex on average twice a week is 4% without antivirals and condoms. 2% with antivirals alone and about 1% with both condoms and antivirals. Avoiding sex during outbreaks and if you are feeling prodrome.
