Being diagnosed with a std is scary and nerve wrecking i’ve been searching on the internet every since i left the doctors for another resolution on what this might be. Ive seen articles that HSV can be mistaken for many things. Can anyone with a outbreak share the opinion on their story please
I got diagnosed with hsv1 genitally nearly 2 years ago. I thought life was over… I had a pretty bad 1st outbreak then another outbreak a few months later. then August last year I had the worst outbreak but near my butt! it was horrific. I got aclivor added to my prescription list at the doctors which is always handy. since then I’ve had a very minor outbreak after developing a separate issue (bad fissure) so I think the stress and illness of that brought on an outbreak
After a while I came to terms with the diagnosis. its essentially cold sores. the world makes herpes sound like a horrific dirty illness..its not. its just a bit of an inconvenience but you soon learn to spot the signs of an outbreak and you just adjust. if you’re in the UK the herpes virus association are incredible. get yourself some lomaherpen and also some lisine supplements. apparently they help prevent outbreaks. look after your body as well.
Did the doctor actually swab anything or take your blood? My doctor tried telling me something looked like herpes, had me freaking out for a week and then i just got the call that i was negative for both hsv-1 and hsv-2, so dont just take the doctors opinion off of what it looks like. Because if they didnt do any of that I would definitely get a second opinion. It can be mistaken for lots of things but obviously if they tested you and it came back positive then you have it and im sorry, but just remember its very managable!
no the doctor never tested me she just assumed thats what it was first hand but ill be tested next week to confirm
