Hey all, thanks in advance if you guys can help with a few issues I am getting on propanolol. I am on 40mg 3 times a day.
I am new to all this I am on it for anxiety and stress of lost ones recently. also it has helped me sleep as I hadn't been sleeping right for so long and finally its sorted! Anyway I am 23 years old started about a month and a half ago and since then I can actually feel like I am me again, able to talk to strangers laugh, mess around or even argue with strangers who try to rip people of lol, well basically just being me again finally! So much happier. Calmer and back to my old laid back but driven self.
Anyway so to the questions if you could help me!
I seem to be gaining massive ammounts of weight when my diet/appiteite hasn't changed much infact its decreased and I think its due to the propanolol, is this dangerious or is it ok?
Also the last two days have been abit concerning but I am not worried about it as of yet. I am booked into seeing the doctor again in like 3 weeks. So yeah I have been experiencing heart pulpatations for a few minutes off and on yesterday, and today when I was slouching on the sofa I got a sensation almost like I could feel my blood pumping through my heart...? Or a better way to try and explain maybe that my heart is vibrating softly?
Also I have been rather pale and so have my hands I have noticed? I don't know weither the paleness in my face has changed as I am usally quite pale during xmas, maybe just abit more paranoid about it on my face lol.
I don't know if that makes any sense but any help would be great!
About the heart vibrating it would be when I would breathe in I would get a sensation as If I can feel blood flowing through my heart.
Hi
40 mg 3 times a day ?????? that is SO MUCH. Get back to you GP. We are individuals but that sound well TOOOO much. This is a web site for people to ask question. I am luck my GP and the practice are FANTASTIC. Please advise what is hapenning.
Hi Steeko-
I agree with david60784. The dose seems unusually high; I have wonderful results with 20mg once at bedtime only. I bet you would do better on 20mg spread throughout the day. I would not wait, but call my dr. and ask the questions.
god really? My blood pressure etc is still really high i think thats why he has me on so much. I will say to him next time i am in. Why do you guys think it is too much? I feel fine on the stuff? Also alot better.. ? I will go back asap.
Hello again,
I was doing more reading about your dosage here: http://xpil.medicines.org.uk/ViewPil.aspx?DocID=18141
and it seems for your condition the dosage you take is not considered to be high. I was suprised by this because my doctor is so cautious with the amount I take for anxiety and palpatations. However I did notice a long list of interactions with other medications. Perhaps this is the problem? But either way, I think your symptoms should be considered by the doctor. Best of luck.
Hi steeko, I take 40mg 3x a day but I take it for migraines, and it works brilliantly, but I had to build up to that slowly. I have put on a stone and a half in weight too, plus my blood pressure goes to low some times on standing, as for the flutter in the heart, the neurologist who put me on propranolol said it was a small side effect as propranolol is predominantly a beta blocker, and told me not to worry.
Considering that before I started propranolol I was suffering worn migraines every week, I can live with the side effects
But you definitely need to go back to gp and explain your symptoms
It's great that you're feeling the anxiety let go, but I'm especially glad that you're going back to the doctor's to check things out. The holidays are such a stressful time. Could that be part of your problem? I hope it all works out. I find this med to be a God-send and am lucky that it's working the way it is. I hope you find great relief soon.
Good point - I didn't catch the dose amount. You are right.
Hi
My blood pressure has been 200/100 before my 3 way by pass.
I get stressed even enjoying my pastimes. I take 10mg of Ramapril plus a water tablet every day. But hate xmas time the Tablet helps. Please see your GP. Remember we ALL have different bodies/ symptons. I am luck each year I go for a check up at the surgery and have a flu jab.
