Hi everyone

Hi all,

I got back from my holiday to Mexico yesterday and have been busy catching up on all the posts from when |I was away smile

Mrs O...glad to hear your son is greatly improved and doing well :D .

Lizzie-Ellen..not long to go now for Jake...I hope he finds the \"fit girl\" he is looking for and will have him in my thoughts on Tuesday   :goodluck:.

Our trip was fantastic and I am happy to report that the heat did its usual trick for me and I felt great, even after the 10.5 hour flight

The hotel was amazing...we were given an upgraded room with a massive four poster bed  and there were six different restaurants to choose from for dinner and a swim up bar in the pool. I was able to swim up to it......swimming away from it was a little more difficult

We took a day trip to see the pyramids at Chichen Itza and the two hour bus journey was well worth it....the skill and science involved in creating such huge structures is really awe inspiring and we had a marvellous guide who explained everything we saw in perfect English.

Ah well...back to reality and a massive pile of ironing now...but at least the weather is lovely here and I make my attempt at getting down to 9mgs from next Monday 8)

Love to all and hope the sun is shining for you aswell.

Pauline.

Welcome back Pauline - seems a shame a warm holiday can't be had on prescription doesn't it! Did you know that in Germany we would probably qualify for a \"Kur\"? The rheuma ones always sound quite nice - fango packs and warm pools!

Hello and welcome back Pauline....... in your absence we have had a fantastic week of good weather and sitting out on patios in sunshine..... Mexico is on my list of places to explore at some point.

So glad you had a fantastic time...... smile

Ha Pauline. Lovely to hear that your holiday in Mexico was such a success.

Know what you mean about not being able to swim away from the pool bar. Why would you try? I've never believed thse \"safe limits\" alcohol levels. What I wonder is were they dreamed up by someone who was afaid that there would be a shortage? just think of the people you know. Well I don't actually mean \"you\". \"One\", I suppose. This is a weakness in the English language.

Two units a day for women??? Who are these women? What about the Queen Mum?. Name your own culprit. One size no more fits here than anywhere.

Shame you missed all the 3* weather here. What a difference it makes. Pity we can't bank it for the winter

Well I'm off to have my third but it IS my birthday.

Among my greetings, one from a college buddy (who has been sorting out old papers ) from 1953!! Haven't heard from her for thirty odd years. Hooray for email.

Have a lovely Sunday everyone.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BettyE - you kept that very quiet, so pleased I had an extra glass of the red stuff on your behalf with my dinner :redwine:  I figure that as I was entirely teetotal until the age of 53 I have a lot of catching up to do and must still be well within my 'safe limits'. Enjoy the rest of your birthday :bubbly:

Welcome back Pauline. :yikes: that went quickly! So pleased you had a good time. Jake's still very calm. His Mum allowed him to go to an all night party last night, sure in the knowledge that he would be fed-up by 10pm - sure enough at 9.30pm he phoned and said 'can you pick me up, I'm booooored'. I thought Chichen Itza was awsome, did they tell you about the sun creating the illusion of a snake slithering down the steps at a specific hour just once a year - what incredible brains they had back then. And I'm up for a 'Kur' Eileen (whatever that is!!). Done a bit of gardening today, ache like hell but not down to PMR this time, so actually feels quite theraputic. Once again Pauline, so pleased you've enjoyed your holiday 8) .

Lizzie

Happy Birthday Betty E and hope you have had a great day..... :redwine:

Hi all,

Betty E....a very Happy birthday and hope that you were spoilt rotten by your nearest and dearest  :choc: :gift: :bubbly: ..

Lizzie Ellen...we had a very knowleagable guide who explained all about the Mayan peoples use of their calendar and how the pyramids were designed to reflect the different seaons as well as the times of day...all made tremendous sense when explained accurately, but I don't think anyone could ever appreciate the sheer size of these structures unless you see them up close as they are just so massive.

One of the areas that we saw was very reminicent of the \"Quiddich\" court in the Harry Potter films and many of us on our tour wondered if perhaps JK Rowling may have visited the site prior to writing her books :?:

It was extrememly hot walking around....probably about 33-34 degrees, so very tiring, but the attached hotel had a pool that we were able to use and I must admit, I for one was glad to hop in and cool off

As always, on my travels, I was amazed at the contast between the \"Have's\" and the \"have nots\"......some of the Mayan people still live in very basic shacks, with no electricity or running water and they sleep in hammocks suspended over dirt floors......a very far cry from what we all take for granted  ....but yet, they are a very happy and proud group of people, and very hospitable and eager to share their culture with tourists......maybe some lessons to be learned from them :?:

Love to all, Pauline.

Happy Birthday BettyE - I had a few for you tonight too. before I knew it was your birthday tho.........

Beev

Happy birthday Betty although it might be a belated wish as I've only just caught up on here today. Here's to a happy and more comfortable year to follow for you too :bubbly: :goodluck: :blackcat:

MrsO

Welcome back Pauline from what sounds like a really interesting holiday. You're all topped up in Vit D after Mexico and now able to keep it that way with the gorgeous weather we are having here. That's terrific news that you managed to stay comfortable in spite of the very long flights and very best wishes for the reduction next week. :ok:

MrsO

A belated Happy Birthday Betty! Hope today is another happy one for you too :D

Welcome back too Pauline - at least you're coming back to some more sun hopefully! Nothing worse than getting back from somewhere fabulous and first sight is Heathrow in the rain!

Hope PMR is behaving for both of you.........

You seem to have had a wonderful holiday, Pauline, happy memories for you and here's to success for the next reduction!
