I have always had bedwetting problems doctors tried different medications plus the usual thing they say you will grow out of it and at around age 12 doctor said it could be hormones etc. but the last 4 years i started having accidents in the day time i told my gp and still nothing so i self reffered to a continence clinic i was then refered to the hospital and after a few tests some not pleasant i was diagnosed with over active bladder and i was prescribed regurin and all i seem to get from this is a dry mouth i am at my wits end and i'm struggling with this i was in a store just yesterday and lost control there where some shoppers laughing at me someone said that's discusting and a female member of staff looking at me like i was a freak. i just don't know what to do anymore. i don.t have many friends as this problem has knocked my self confidence really low and so generaly i keep myself to myself. i would realy appreciate any advice or comments of support.
I get pads from the continence service so at least outwardly I appear dry even if I am usually wet. I don't let my incontinence stop me doing anything I want to do. I agree with you about medication it is not for everyone. It affected my eyesight. I'd rather wet my self than ruin my eyesight. My advice is get some proper incontinence protection and get on with life.
thanks for your reply i will speak to my continence nurse about better protection
Hi James...i've posted on here before. I was diagnosed with the same urge incontinency about 3 years ago. I'm 48 now. I also got given tablets that really did nothing except give me a dry mouth. I had to wear pads all the time. My low point came wetting myself whilst shopping. I felt awful. I was sent to the hospital where i underwent a barrage of unpleasent tests. Everyone was worth it to be told i could have botox injections which i had in December. They have been brilliant although i now feel like they are begining to wear off.
Don't give up. I know Asda do male incontinence pads that just stick onto your undies. They would be a start. I couldn't go out the door without something on. Get back to the hospital n see if botox could be an option for you. Don't give in to it n try not to let it rule your life. Theres loads of us out there suffering like you.
Good luck x
many thanks helen for your reply it really helps me when i am given advice also i am back at the hospital in june so i will ask if injections would help me better thankyou.
