i am three weeks on from op doing fine but have developed a nagging pain in my groin all the way across the pubic area its there even when i have rested . any thoughts on this ?
oops sorry that should have been three months
Hi not sure if this is the answer but I had a tendon (adductor) partially snipped via the groin during the op. I wad vaguely aware of the sensation during the op and asked about it afterwards. Apparently it's quite common during thr as the tendon becomes tight with a long term hip problem. Scar tissue grows over it and it heals. I've also got some groin pain and wonder if it's that.
Or, It may just be a normal result of the THR healing and the muscles and ligaments learning to work correctly.
hi june ,
I don't know why but I have the same thing too - feels as if the muscles are so tight that it is uncomfortable sometimes to stand up straight or stretch my legs out ...
I was told that it is still part of the healing process, the learning to walk properly after God know how long - Appparently the brain is sort of looking for the way of walking with the least resistance- hence, limping, hunched etc.
to correct this, it takes effort - stand up straight, relax, and walk heel to toe - if you still use a cane, try no to lean on it too much (which I do) -
goodness ....so many muscles are involved, right ?
one step at a time and taking your time
doing it
big warm hug
