Hi to all the 'old' hippies

Hi everyone, hope you are all doing OK. Well what can I say, 17 weeks post-op on Wednesday & where has that time gone! I've been back at work part time for the last 5 weeks & tomorrow I'm back full time (just had a week in Norfolk so that will be a shock to the system)! Hope some of my old friends are well - Laura, Renee, Rose, Barb & Graham x

Sorry, I forgot Linda, Linda, Linda & Lynne! X

I hope I'm one of those Lindas!! Glad all is good for you!!! Whoo hoo!! πŸΎπŸŽŠπŸŽ‰πŸŽˆπŸ’. LDπŸ€“

Hi there ........ sounds great.  Also just back from a holiday, and overall pleased with the performance of my hip .... especially considering it is not sitting perfectly.

I was climbing castles and church steps better than my wife

Just remember not to overdo things, it is still so easy to do.

Of course you are! X

I found walking on the beach quite hard especially in the soft dry sand & around the dunes x

Oh yes - we had a short break in Bournemouth, and walking in soft sand is difficult.  I think I managed nearly 10 miles in one day - something I could not possibly have done 12 months ago.

Hey Fern hun nice to hear from you. Well l am 6 weeks post op for my 1st knee and i still feel like l am 4 weeks although my movement is fine. Yeah my work lurks to. I am starting next monday as a phased return but going in tom to put in for part time only want to work 3 days at most and l want it asap. I have a 6 week phased return hopefully l will be on part time by end of it.

Anyway fern glad to hear you are doing ok old friend. The good old days eh xx

I still have a knee to go l can't face it yet lol xxx

Hi Fern Lady,

Annette here, almost 8 weeks post up and ding really well.  Enjoying life again, painfree and med free.  I have been back at work ( here at home) full time for 4 weeks, I think I have found the balance I was looking for.  Wishing you well, nice to her from you! Annette

Lovely to hear from you Laura & glad that you are starting to see the other side with your knee. Can you wait a bit before you have the other one done? How's your mum & hubby? Big hugs x

Hi Annette, apologies, so many people I forgot to mention including you & Chloe parrot. Good to hear you are doing well. I very often forget I'm a bit bionic now! I've just come back from a week away in Norfolk & the bed we slept in was like a slab of concrete! Every time I moved I felt it, especially on my operated side. I was glad to be home & sleeping in my own bed! X

Yeah l am gonna wait a year if l can before my other knee. Thankfully my hubby is great now. My mum has done her 1st week of chemotherapy and radio and its hut her like a tonne of bricks on friday she is totally exausted its been a hard weekend as she has been just sleeping and crying she has not even got energy to text or talk on a phone. She goes back in to hosp tom.morning and l am glad as they can look after her properly and she is starting to get side effects. Its really upsetting seeing her like that. But its normal. Its just week 1 of 4 so l dread to think.what she will be like. But hopefully worth it. Xxx

Aaw, big hugs to your mum. I know from friends that chemo really knocks you about. Glad your hubby is OK x

Prayers for your mom and you & the family. Hugs, πŸ€—πŸ€—. LD

Hi Fernlady,Had my 1st hip done May 18th.Had fractured femur on day 19.Well ,I still see Renee ,Barb and Graham on here from time to time. The fracture just started to look better last month.Have appt tomorrow. If everything looks ok will schedule for the 2nd to be done in Nov.Cross your fingers.I went back to work at 8 weeks with a walker.I use one of those scooter types. Between my knee and my hips Im really tired of this constant discomfort plus it threatens my job as the economy is tight and companies do look to get rid of older employees.More than that I really do just want to get done with it and get my life back.I actually love what I do and was happy to get back to my job.The other day my boss told me that the nurses asked frequently for new?you will be tired but ok.We still are sore for a while but we adapt

Hi Fernlady,

so good to hear from you and how well you are doing !!!!

I am still here - dealing with weird health challenges that are hampering my recovery from hips a bit ---

enjoy and celebrate your life, darling !!!!

big warm hug

renee

Thats great news! Even I can't believe it has been 17 weeks for you - so happy to read your post. Going back to work is utterly exhausting initially, it does get better, and mostly we are happy to be able to live our lives again! Well done hun!

Well done, I missed your knee replacement, did it go okay??? I hope you are getting there Laura. Big hugs xx

It is lovely to hear from you. And just returned from Norfolk - I am very, very envious ( perhaps next year).

It sounds as if you have been going great guns and settling back into the work routine. Such good news to hear.

I'm 2 weeks past my 2nd thr and feeling pretty lucky about how well it has been going. At this rate I will be ready to for the practice night for Scots reels in November.

Big hugs Fern, much gratitude for your kindness and best wishes for the very best.

Linda

Thanks Renee x
