High BP

Does anybody else with Fatty Liver disease  have high blood pressure, gp has now put me on medication as my BP is very high. I don't yet know the extent of my NAFLD as I have to have a biopsy but BP meds was the last thing I wanted.

I was just diagnosed with a Fatty Liver after high AST/ALT levels and subsequent ultrasound.  I also have high BP and on medication.  I am 53 years old and my doctor said many older people develop a fatty liver.

Really my gp never said anything about age im 67 my enzymes have been rising regularly I have sjogrens and lupus so it may be NAFLD as its nothing to do with weight or alcohol with me. Im due to have a biopsy to see how fatty my liver is. It was picked up by ultrasound scan. I went to my gp yesterday as I didn't feel too well as anxious about the biopsy and my blood pressure was really high so gp prescribed med (channel blockers) I was a bit concerned because it says not to take if you have liver problems.

I know a lot of different medications alter the liver function tests.  But that's all I know

Thanks I think its my immune system with me. Have they told you what to do to help it

Yes, exercise, lower the alcohol content and eat better.

Thanks im on 5mg channel blockers at the moment so hope that's enough

Fatty Liver presents with High blood pressure, High triglycerides, Glucose Intolerance, in (from what im told) almost everyone. NAFLD, and ALD.

If its only fatty liver, and ALD related, you  should completely resolve in 2-3 months with a good diet, exercise and complete abstinence from Alcohol. I've seen people who have had fatty liver and followed those guidelines and they all resolved perfectly. Keep drinking and it gets real bad.

I don't drink alcohol at all never have done l am well within my BMW range and eat healthy. Mine is autoimmune related unfortunately we a cholesterol test recently showed low trigs of 1.1 really worried it's now beyond NAFLD so biopsy been booked
