Hi, been back to discuss surgery and my concerns about going through it especially if it doesnt work. The doctor increased my Lansoprazole from 30mg to 60mg to see if there was any change. Because my ph monitoring and mamonetry came back negative surgeon isn't convinced fundo surgery will work. To be fair the doctor rang me at home this afternoon and said he had been discussing my case with another specialist. To try and confirm if the tablets switch off the acid he has suggested I take 160mg for 1 week of the esomeprazole tablets. By taking this high does it should shut off the acid the same way as surgery. Then I will know whether to go through with it or not. I started the 60mg dose last thursday and this evening have a really bad headache, feel sick and have upset stomach. Has anyone else taken such a high dose of ppi's and did you have any side affects. Im concerned I may be doing my body more harm than good! San

I had a manotery test and it showed up that I have a faulty valve in my tummy.I have had numerous tests (I have just gone through a 3rd endoscopy today and the result was the same as the last one-normal) I was on ppi's but after the manotery test I was advised to stop them.I am not on any meds at the moment because my specialist is deciding what action to take as all the tests that I have keep coming back as normal.I have all the tabs for this condition and they either dont work or make me ill.The last ones I was taking were called Domperidone (Motillium) be careful hun with the tabs and if you dont feel right with them,consult your doctor
Hi Debs, its so annoying when the tests come back negative, you know yourself you don't feel well, it would be great to great some answers, will keep my fingers crossed for you. I also had my third endoscopy March and the biopsy showed there was acid, which contradicts the ph and manotery test. The new doctor I have been to did say I could have been having a time when my acid levels weren't very high - who nows. Last night after sending my message I was really ill, had severe head ache and sickness. Not sure if it was the tabs or something I eat. Picked up my presciption today, I have to take 2 40mg tabs twice a day for the 1 week only. I'm really aprehensive about taking, Im going away the weekend so Im not going to start until next Monday incase I dont feel well. It is really hard trying to establish if its something you have eaten or done or the condition or a combination. Monday nite I eat a whole pot of olives - naught but nice! I had also been bending down gardening and washing the car amongst other things so cannot put my finger on what made me bad. Today have horid metalic taste in mouth and still feel slightly sick. Do you feel any better being off the tablets? Lets hope we both get sorted soon, take care San :?
Hi San,I am so sorry you feel so ill,like you say it is awful when you know that there is something wrong but all the tests you have come back as normal.In my case I was taking Nexium 40mg amongst other acid reflux remedies for acid reflux and GORD and the last one Domperidone (Motillium) made me so ill,I was only supposed to take them for a week but I only took them for 5 days because 3 out of the 5 days I had to go home from work ill.The Nexium,I was told by my GP to stop because he didnt feel that it wasnt benefitting me.The sad thing about it is my doctor cannot perscribe anything for me because the consultant hasnt told him what is wrong with me,so understandably doesnt want to perscribe something that either doesnt work,makes me feel ill or wont be compatable to my illness.I deal with it quite well on the whole but on Friday I took myself to A&E due to agonising pains in my abdomen,to which I had to wait 3 hours only to be told that I had to go home,take 2 paracetamol (500mg), and take to my bed for the rest of the day.If you need any info or anything,please feel free to e-mail me hun and I will try to answer any of your questions
