high heart rate

My Polar heart monitor read 165 BPM playing squash I was worried it was too high & told the doctor that then had a stress test in his hospital

He stopped it at 135 BPM and approved me to continue playing squash

My monitor read 186 BPM a couple of days ago after walking off the squash court

When practicing on court alone yesterday I stopped after it read 151 BPM not because I was exhausted

After getting out of bed this morning my RHR was 50 BPM, its been as low as 44

I'm a 74 year old male John

Although your Doctor approved you continuing perhaps it is time to give up Squash as it is such a strenuous game.

Sorry to say (as I am a fan of people keeping up with sport) that I agree with derek76.

squash requires such extreme bursts of energy that it can lead to problems and injury.

Time to find another sport!

I must say John you are an extremely healthy person. Recommended heart rate for exercise is usually 85 % of your calculated maximum heart rate as follows 220-your age = max heart rate. 220-74= 126 85% of wich is your recommended exercise BPM. You must have led a very healthy life with a very healthy diet.

Congrats.
