Hip Pain When Using A Sleep Wedge for Reflux/Gerd - Any tips?

I use a sleep wedge (Medcline) for Reflux. It's really good, but I get a very sore hip due to all the extra pressure being put on it. Does anyone have any tips please?

I prefer a longer pillow that comes down undet the hip. There is also a longline wedge that goes under the mattress that might be more suitable. Although not able to be delivered to Australia where I live. If you, or someone you know is a carpenter a full length under mattress wedge can be made. I saw one made on a FB support page whereby two wedges were made for each side of the bed so the partner was on the same incline. We have used shorter wedges under the mattress. But I suppose it’s all about experimenting to see what suits your body. I know painful and expensive in the meantime.

I have been having the same problem. I have a full length Putnams mattress tilter which works well in stopping the acid coming up so much. However because of the acid reflux I have to sleep on my left hand side all the time I am finding my left hip is getting quite sore. I have just got a Putnams sero pressure egg crate mattress topper which I find is helping a little though it doesn’t completely solve the problem.

Thanks for this. I hadn’t heard of Putnams before. Looks a bit pricey, but might give it a go.

Thanks. Am going to try the wedge under the mattress. The long pillows seem a fairly cheap idea to try. If that doesn’t work, I might have to fork out for a full length option. My bedroom is full of pillows and wedges!

might be worthwhile getting an assessment by a physio and exercise physiologisr as well, maybe some muscle strengthening exercises may help.
