Hip replacement go wrong now causing knee replacement issues

Bit of a long story .... 2.5 years ago I had bilateral hip replacement anteriorly. Two days after surgery Ortho surgeon and physio paid me a visit. Asked me to raise legs from a lying position. Left leg was a log. Right leg lifted a dream but, at the second lift I felt something slip over the new joint. I told the drs but they ignored me. Right hip has given me uphill sinse then. Groin pain and into the buttock, some limitations in movement. Left leg still reluctant to left and gets sore if I persist.  Stationary bike has become a big no-no. Dr says it’s too soon to go back in, so 6 months ago I have bilateral knee replacements. Despite my patellas being a huge source of pain for me prior to my op, surgeon decides to re-use them, saying that is what he always does. Now the patellas are still hurting, causing a catch22 situation in that I need to strengthen my thigh muscles but the sore patellas hurt! Beyond that, the inside of the right knee is still very sore after 6+ months. I feel as if I’m walking on a nerve? This usually gets worse as the day wears on and at night I still need crutches to climb the stairs up to my bedroom. I personally think the right hip issue is leading to the right knee issue. There was some massaging of the osoas tendon after the hip op, but it had absolutely no effect. So, now I want to go back and sort the hips out so that the knee can heal. Knees still ache terribly when I get of the car?

Hi...I'm a bit confused with your story...so you had thp replacement 2.5 years ago..have you been able to walk since than?.do you have pain?.didn't they do an x-ray since your surgery to see if everything is ok.?

Yes Connie, xrays were done, but doc said everything looked fine? I think the replacement is probably technically correct and that this is a soft tissue issue? Does soft tissue damage not show on xrays?  I’ve also always felt as if this leg is now shorter than the other. However measuring both major bones indicates otherwise. Could a ligament pulling cause this? But then surely this should show on an xray? Very confusing, I must say.

Yes you are right ..x-ray do not show soft tissue...before surgery I had issues with one leg shorter than other...my PT said my hips were rotating and my si joint was dislocating....even now after surgery my left leg( replacement side) is slightly shorter but not as bad as before surgery..and my si joint area periodically feels sore...

Yes you could have tight psoas muscle or any ligament....the PT said I have very tight abductor muscles..inner thigh..I use a roller on them.....just is a pain this aging business..
