I'm apart of the University of Florida Shands Hospital orthopedic clinic group. After talking to several individuals it seemed to be in my best interest to stop smoking for 6 weeks before hip replacement surgery. So my quit date will be April 30th Monday. Stay in touch for support
Well done, great idea. But the count-down is harder still, be a real hero to yourself and family, GIVE UP TODAY !
Good luck, I know just how hard it is.
Best wishes
Graham
I went to smoking sensation class and one thing I was informed of is to set a date my date is Monday I'm being realistic this is not just like poof I'm the Magic Dragon
Possibly your hip going bad will be one of the best things that ever happened to you! It will be hard, but six weeks after surgery, you will feel just great. I am on week 5 and it seems just remarkable to be pain free most of the time. Wishing you the best!
I am so glad you have set a date to give up smoking, I do hope this will be forever. I used to smoke and I know how difficult it is. I am extremely glad I gave up though.
Good for you Jonesy! might be the break you unconsiously were looking for...and good luck...Im pre op too so just following this for info..
Hi Jonesy
Good decision. I gave up smoking too. Best thing ever. Everyone has their strategies. But mine was: peppermints, chewing gum and avoiding social occasions where everyone was smoking (the last in proibably a lot easier in 2018)
Good luck with the smoking and with the surgery
Mike
If that's what the well informed say to do, what am I to make a suggestion ! Keep up the good work, we are all rooting for you. From a non-smoker who has had the fortune to never try it !!!!
👍
Hi Jones brilliant, you obviously realise how important it is to not be a smoker when having even minor surgery such as a tooth extraction, I quit 8 years ago last Christmas Day, don't regret it one bit.
