I need a hip replacement both sides and live alone and thinking of moving near my family for when I have my surgery but afraid of the waiting times being longer I live in the North East of England and thinking of moving to Teeside
Can't family come and stay for you for a week or two after the surgery. My friend had this done and she was mobile within a week. These days they get you moving very quickly
I agree with wknight as it does seem rather drastic to move to another part of the Country. Moving is stressful and tiring not to mention the costs involved. Recovery is relatively quicker now a days thou it can depend on age and general health also. I would agree with wknight that it would be better if a family member could spend sometime with you for a short while, if this isn't possible have you a friend or neighbour that could help for a couple of weeks. Once the stitches are removed and you keep up with the exercises it does become easier. I have had many surgeries on my knees and i live on my own and have managed by being prepared beforehand. I had a
little help with shopping but managed otherwise. What i couldn't do waited.
Hi thank you for your kind reply I have other reasons as well, I have lived on my own a long time and have always managed I have had quite a lot of surgery my self in the past, but now I am in my 70s I feel the need to be closer to my family plus I have a little dog who needs to be walked. My daughter and son both work full time but I know they will help me when necessary, I also have grandkids on hand thanks again
Kindest Regards
