Hip replacement

Hi everybody.  Finely i had right hip teplecmant done 24 of March anterior.  I stay 2 days in hospital and than sent home.  My leg is so swollen and still num from knee to my groin.  Its litle bit sore and pain is different than with first hip about 17 months agou.  Im glad is done. My legs seems to be same lengs now.

Im only 4 days after op and its to early say if pain get worse or not. I got list of excersice to do tham 3 times a day  and so fare its very hard to do tham but im trying.  Now recovery time in hospital my BP went so lower something like 80/50 and i feelso dizzy.  Im glad op is behind me after over 1 year on waiting list. Sending big hug Madla💗

With many, the numbness is normal but abates soon.  1 yr waiting list?  Long time.  That sounds like my back surgery waiting list here in Spain.  My wife waited six months after she saw the traumatologías the here in Spain.  If she had not been so bull headed, she would have quit skiing years ago and had it done.  She will get hers tomorrow morning.  Myself, I cracked my right hip and it was seen as an emergency.  No wait list, done last December.  Now cycling and swimming daily.  Good luck on your recovery.  We are all different in the rates of recovery.  I too was a little swollen and numb until week  two.  Hang in there.

Thank you for info my first hip was done interior  and feel diferent than this one. Least i know is sort of normal have hip swolen and numb . Here in Australa least in SA if is not urgent you have to wait. Some people wait even longer than one year. I was public patience  but op was done in private hospital and  privete doctor did the op.

Love Madla💗

Back again Madla, well it's good to hear you have the operation behind you, I remember having low blood pressure too, quite scary when you feel that dizzy.

Best wishes

Graham

Hi Madia,

Good to hear that you’ve finally had your 2nd hip replaced. I wish you all the best with your recovery, love Judith

Hi Graham ,

diferent experience with anterior, different pain and my leg is still little bit numb and painful lots painful.  It has been done in privete hospital and different surgeon.  I was public patience in private hospital.  Surgeon was Scottish who work in that hospital He came see me before op and than after. I got spinal this time with sedation  . First time i got epedurel.  No restrictions with anterior. Still have to be careful.  Walking and excersice are different than first time . My BP still is not ok still is lower and like you say its not nice feeling when you feel dizzy.  It will not eazy to go trough again but hopefully i survive.  The frinds helping me with shopping and what ever i need it. At work they are not really happy  but my health is mo important than work just know. My legs seems to same lengs  least the surgon  sad . How are you? I hope you are doing fine. Love Madla💗💗

Thank you Judith. I hope you are doig ok .

Love Madla💗

So good to hear you again, and good to have good friends to help you out.

Just remind work that without this operation they might lose you altogether and have to train someone else up to do your job. Your health is the most important thing.

Best wishes

Graham

Hi, I just had a full hip replacement Friday and had problems with my blood pressure dropping to low, was sent home from hospital Monday and feel abit out of my depth, I really struggle with getting in and out of bed, just feels like my leg wont move! My lower leg is swelling alot today don't know if I'm not doing enough or doing to much?

I was given a long piece of cloth knotted together which really helped dragging my leg into bed. I suppose you could use a dressing gown chord as well. Slowly I found that I could actually get in and out of bed with no help. It just takes time for muscles to build up again.

Thanks,

The first couple of days home come as a bit of a shock and I'm only in my early 30's so not what I was expecting to be going through now

Very nice to hear your THR surgery is finally over. Now on to a healing journey that will give you back a better quality of life. It's a good battle from this point on. Many good wishes on your journey to healing.

Nice to hear from people going through the same thing. Today is only day 8 from my op but feeling better in myself just want to get the staples out and I think it will be more comfortable. X

Had to wait a year for surgery that must have been tough. Sometimes the hip pain can become debilitating. I am very proud of you this is no picnic patience and Perserverance is our friend. Once the incision heals and your on to exercises water therapy is gentle can help bring recovery closer each day.

Cheers to a great recovery and a terrific future.
