I had my hip replacement 10 days ago and up and walking no pain in my hip only pain is the muscle across the front of my right leg which is the hip I had replacement and down to the side of my knee and leg nice and swollen be glad when it heals up
As others will also say Alan its still very early days for you.Great not to have that nasty arthritis pain in the joint though isn’t. You are only ten days into recovery so thigh pain and swelling is expected considering what the leg had been through.Ensure you keep your walking exercise as feels right for you and also rest and elevate the leg for a period of time each day too .Ice too will help with the swelling as you probably know . I had my hip replacement 5 months ago, the swelling was quite marked for the first 4 weeks or so.I also had knee issues but finally saw the physio last week and he said s its due to change of gait and also the thigh muscle needing a bit of strengthening which i have specific exercises for now.
Things will start to settle in time and they say up to 12 months for full recovery from major joint surgery
All the best
