Since 2009 I've had 6 hip replacements. I've just been told a few weeks ago I need each hip replaced again. I've had metal on metal and only just been told they were products that have been recalled in the past. I'm 51 years old living in the Uk, and I'm finding it difficult to find a solicitor to take my case on. I think it's to big of a case for them to take it on. So asking for some advice on were to go. I've been told that I do have a case but they can not take my case due to their work loads. I do believe I've got a massive case. Any information welcome
Wow that's horrible.
Were your six hip replacements done free on the NHS? Or done privately (paid for by you, at approx £11,000 each time)?
Ali so very sorry to hear this. I can't imagine going through that many replacements. Unfortunately I have no information to give as I live in the US. But I'll pray for you that you will be able to get the help you need and your hips resolved and healing. Hugs 🤗Linda.
Hi I'm so sorry you have been put through this, that's horrendous, one on each hip most people would find enough but you have obviously drawn the short straw and had more than your fare share, I'm also going down the road to a claim and I have found a really good solicitor but I'm not sure that I can pass info like that on the site, it might be frowned upon.
If I find its OK I will give you there details.
How have you coped with it all, what are they going to do this time, has it been on both hips 3 times each or more on one side, is there a reason to do with your make up, do you have osteoporosis or another degenearive disease
All on the NHS. To be honest they have been great. My problem is with the manufacturer
Hey you!! How was the fare!! Hey you can private message the info to Ali. 👌🏽😜
Just to much wear and tear playing to much sports. The only thing I have going for me at the moment is that I'm a healthy person and no other health issues. Thanks for your help
Thanks for your concern. Hopefully I might get lucky with the help I need. Thanks again
Yep tell me about it. I would not wish it on my worst enemy
1 on the left hip and 5 on the right hip plus a spacer on the right as. Now waiting for them both to be done again. This is all down to the metal on metal hips. Deupy are a disgrace
Glad to hear you aren't blaming the poor old NHS! I know there have been successful claims made against Depuy in the USA. I gather that class actions were made legal here in the UK 2015 so that might be an avenue worth exploring if you haven't done so already. I really hope someone on this forum will be able to help you.
Good luck, sjhips
To be honest I was just happy the NHS kept trying to fix my situation. They are the best in what they do. Like all big organisations things go wrong once in a while. The class actions in America are massive payouts. But after all the revisions I've had I want the manufacturer to put things right, and the only way that hurts them is losing in court. Today I've just got my date for my 7 hip on the 21st September. Then one more to go on my left after that. Fingers crossed it will be the end off it. Since 2009 I've lost about 5 years in work and lost a few jobs over it. But there are always someone in a worse situation than yourself. Besides Thai issues I'm quite healthy and always have been. Just that this as put me back a few years . Thanks for your concern.
hi Ali,
I hope you can find someone who can go to court for you ..
I know someone who also had revision on her hips due to Deupy hardware (Drop foot etc.) and went to court (The Netherlands ) Turned out that the hospital was already informed about the recall but for some reason overlooked it and used the prosthesis anyway ..she won the case and was compensated (not enough for pain and suffering she had to endure)
Good luck and keep on it, okay ...
big warm hug
