I am interested regarding anyone that has had revision hip surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. I had a total right hip replacement which was operated in Owen Sound, On. However there is a problem and now I am looking at hip revision surgery in Toronto. The new technique is a computerized way of making certain that the ball joint is placed properly by using Intellijoint. Has anyone had this technique done? Secondly after hip revision surgery what is the recovery on it. Thank you .

I am sorry to hear that you need revision of your hip replacement surgery ... how long ago was that done and what went wrong, if I may ask ?
I looked up Intellijoint - well, the way I understand it is that this is kind of brand new and just available in Canada ... I don't know what to tell you here ..
It depends on what the revision is for - if there is fracture , maybe there might be some non-weight bearing time required ...

Thank you for responding; however the THR was operated on October 25 2016 in Owen Sound, Ontario. After being home for a couple of weeks, I seemed to be doing fine until. one morning I noticed my operated hip was twice the size (fluid). I immediately went to my family Doctor, who investigated by taking an x-ray finding there was fluid build-up. After seeing the surgeon immediately the surgeon said this was normal. Eventually the swelling did disappear . Six weeks after surgery I was walking with a cane, but felt a clicking and popping in my hip. I knew something wasn't right. Called the Surgeon's office again, in which he informed me everything was normal, but would see me in three months. After the three months I was experiencing continual popping and clicking as though my ball joint was rolling out of my socket. The Surgeon saw me again taking xrays still stating everything was fine... By this time I was getting perplexed with the same song and dance "I'll see you in three months. I again went to my family doctor who pressed on the side of my right hip with his fingers. Oh my God, the pain was excruciating! He immediately ordered another x-ray and found the screw was outside the cortex!! Meanwhile the family doctor found this had been the cause since the operation. I asked him why is this surgeon stating everything is okay? My doctor couldn't answer this, but asked me to go back and see him again. I said "No, since he would not admit there was a problem which was caused by him misaligning the screw; why would I put myself in his care"? I asked my family Doctor to send me to Toronto, Ontario. Intellijoint is now being used in the States as well, which cuts down on misalignments, proper leg length, and revisions. This to me makes sense, due to the thousands of hip revisions that have to be done; patient's overall health, plus time and money.

wow ...that is terrible and sounds like negligence on surgeon's part -
Are you covered for the revision surgery? Have you seen a surgeon at the Toronto Hospital ?
I think I would go for it ... Get the ball rolling and have your self evaluated -
I don't know the protocol but is it possible for your GP to call the surgeon and tell him about the finding on the xray? I fully understand why you don't want him to do a revision on your hip - why would you trust him ?..but they need to know ...
I am so sorry that this happened and hope a solution will come soon -
