Hi i wonder if anyone else had this. After 18months ofpain following hip replacement my surgeon has said the socket has been place at the wrong angle so it will need completely redoing which i believe is a revision. Evidently the surgeons ‘trainee’ performed the hip so my socket and leg are not lined up properly. I knew there was something wrong but did not expect this.
ouch... sorry to hear that.. out of curiosity, did they tell you a trainee would be working on you?

So very sorry to hear you have had this issue. I am at 4th week post-op on right hip and praying it is coming along. I am experiencing some swelling today on both feet so I know I did too much. I have them.up now tried to walk a little more inside my apartment. My right leg is settling down and I can tell it is not even with my left but I am not waddling as much. My pain level is much better but I take hydrocodone every 4 or five hours. My knees let me know if I go too long.

I am 4 months since total hip replacement. Am in pain, burning sensation, walking with a limp and am miserable. Doctor is rude arrogant andnasty now. Seeing a new surgeon October 18 and I feel something went wrong too.
So sorry this happened to you. Why did it take so long for the Surgeon to tell you it wasn't lined up correctly and did you have to keep after him to find out why you were still in pain?

So sorry to hear this. I also had trouble with my 1st hip replacement being messed up by the doctor himself.
By the time I figured out it was never going to get better and saw a different doctor, it was past the time I could sue (2 year time frame here in Florida)
So it cost me more money and more down time. Mess ups do happen. I'd advise to gather your info and see a legal person especially since they had a 'trainee' work on you.
I'd also check out a different doctor, but I don't know what your situation is there. Good luck.

So sorry you are going through this. I had revision hip surgery Oct 24 2013 when I woke up my left foot felt strange the doctor said give it some time . 6 months forward I tries to go back to work couldn't make 2 hours so went back tp my surgeon he sent me to neurologist I had what they call emg test done turns out I have sciatic nerve damage from the hip revision . Ive been in so much pain the last 5 years lost my job been on disability . I have never been the same after the hip revision . if your going in for revision make sure the surgeon specializes in hip revision ask lots of questions I didn't do my research because my first hip thr went fine no problems . I live in California statue of limitations is one year and I did sign paper possible risk of nerve damage . I been to so many doctors im told my nerve was damage in the hip surgery and has not repaired so I need to learn to live with chronic pain . Please let me know how your doing

My doctor after the surgery and follow up visits was complete jerk I stopped going to him I believe something went wrong and they got away with it , now im stuck with unbearable nerve pain .

So sorry to hear about this . When you go see your new surgeon ask to see neurologist and get emg test done just to rule out nerve damage . I have sciatic nerve damage from revision hip surgery I didn't find out until 6 months after the surgery I have never been the same from hip revision . from what I have researched about hip revisions you have higher chance of getting nerve damage I never in million years I would end up with this chronic pain that has turned my life upside down . Hope you get some answers from what I have found out all the doctors stick together.

Very similar to mine. I had one done 3 years ago, but just the ceramic was 'misplaced'. I had no outward symptoms, no pain.
Revision is a little trickier, I had mine done at RNOH Stanmore (in the UK), which is the best hospital for orthopaedics in the UK.
The one 'complication' that they never ever admit to is surgical error.
My revision was 2 hours, but that was because the ceramic had shattered and all gone into my leg muscles, so that had to be cleaned out. Yours will be much simpler, they do have special 'explant' (opposite of implant) tools to remove the socket sucessfully.
I am new to this group but a veteran of hip surgeries. I am so sorry you are having this experience. I do not know the legal ramifications, but sometimes revision surgery makes a huge difference. Is there a plan for when?

My history is as follows:
2000 RTHR followed by a Revision 6 months later because I did not improve; 6 months after that there was implant recall which explained why the initial THR got worse and not better.
2002 LTHR - went fine but always had a leg length discrepancy.
2018 (Sept 20th) LTHRevision which is what I am recuperating from now. I do feel both legs are even. I have ankle swelling.

So sorry to hear your news. I had a left hip replacement in february 2017. I was doing fine with recovery,but was having problems with a muscle in my inner thigh. Every time I tried to strengthen this area up it kepted just tightening up. I went to physio who tried to give me exercises in order to achieve this but to no avail. I eventually went back to my doctor we refereed me back to the surgeon who couldn,t find why this was happening but agreed it wasn't right. I basically cant do any exercise and struggle to walk up hills or any great distance He arranged for me get a steroid injection to try and help the muscle which did nothing. By this point I was starting to get pain in my right hip due to overcompensating. I was referred to another surgeon who thought the new hip maybe inpinching the muscle so arranged a MRI scan which did not really show up anything. He said that he could go in re-postiton the hip
(apparently the MIR is not 3 dimensional) so he is not sure if anything is wrong at the back. He may possibly cut the affected muscle which is showing wear and tear. Unfortunately this might not work and may make it worse my only other choice is to live with it(some choice). So I decided to go for the surgery given that the other side is starting to hurt.Although I knew after the first replacement I would not be able to do everything I had done before as I used to be quite active. I thought I would be able to do more than I can. So to end a long story I am going into hospital on the 25th October fingers crossed it works.
