I'm down to have a total hip replacement on the 2nd January. In the mean time I have a hip spacer which has been in for 7 months. I have had constant pain in my knee, buttocks and groin for 7 months, same time spacer had been fitted. Currently using a gram to walk. Has any one had the same experience, is it normal?
I don't have the same experience because I don't have anything in my hip but I can assure you that if you have something like the spacer in your hip and if you limp or walk differently than you normally do it is going to cause you pain in other areas because you're using them more then you used to before you started limping. When I had to wear a boot on my foot for a few weeks my lower back started hurting and I had to get an injection in it to help the problem. But it was because I was walking uneven because of the boot.
What's a spacer? Never heard of it.

Never heard of a hip spacer or a ‘gram’ - too WALK?
THR is scheduled when?Were you told why a spacer was fitted. Usually it's due to necrosis or infection severe OA . I experienced similar,walking with cane,eventually wheelchair no pain meds were prescribed while waiting for revision. Since revision this year recovered well from the new prosthetic exchange and have my life back. I wish the best for you and hope hip is soon.
