I need to have total hip replacement. I have not scheduled it yet cause I have been having itchy painful ears. I went to urgent care was told I had wax build up but no infection and all that needed done was for them to get wax out. They did it I could hear better .they told me to get some drops over the counter that would help to get rid of the wax. I left feeling good
Not much pain unless I touched the skin at opening of ear. Was told pain would soon go away but as the night went on the pain got worse and pain med don't even help. Do you think since I just have pain and no infection I can still have surgery. Cause pain in hip is really pad and I can hardly walk.
If the pain does not settle you need to find out why it hurts so much. Removing the wax may have bruised your ear canal.
As far as I know there is no intrinsic reason why you cannot plan for your surgery, afterall you will be discussing your medical history, ears included at your pre op screen
Hello Ann, You will definitely know when its time to have the surgery...my pain was so intense I was unable to walk without a limp, couldnt sleep at night because of the pain and was callng in at work at least once per week just to get though the week. I was also at that time dealing with some bladder and urinary problems, questioning whether i had a uti...decided to go ahead with the surgery and worry about the bladder later. Thank God I did and actually because of the IV fluids and antibiotics with surgery I no longer have the problem with urinating. I say go ahead and get it done...sooner than later so you can get on with your life. I am not going to lie the first two weeks or so were a living hell for me(pain, swelling etc) but now 6 weeks out its the best thing I could have ever done. Good luck to you!!
Dear Ann
If you need hip surgery do get it planned before you are in real pain because you will be compensating which is bad in the longer term. Also you will tend to become less fit, put on weight which will slow the speed and the success of hip surgery.
Good luck. Richard
hi ann,
was the pain inside your ear during the night?
I agree with maggie - find out why your ear is hurting -
Have you seen an ortho-surgeon already ? The pain will increase and I would get the ball rolling and schedule the surgery ...
Come back here when you have further concerns or questions, okay
big warm hug
