Hi all

I went to my gp yesterday as l called to get an appointmrnt in regards to my sleeping or lack of and my pain medication.

He examined me and had a look at both wounds l explained to him l.was still in pain a lot across my back and into my hips some days ok other days bad. I also said my knees were starting to painful as l was usung them to bend. He has sent me for an xray tommorow of my hips and knees.

Now l am terrified l am going to ne told l have OA in my knee's. Am l going the shock l got with my hips. It never seems to end for me. For once l hope l get some good luck. But l think if l am told this l will go into serious depression. I an going stirr crazy as it is being stuck in the house all day l have so.many issues running through my head about my job my family , to be told l have OA in knees l think would just be the last straw ha ha

Lets hope not.cxxxxtþ

Stay strong and hope for the best Laura!! I hope that you do not have oa in your knees and it's just a matter of compensating. I am sorry about your sleeping, I had the same issue but it is resolving itself. Best thoughts your way and keep us fellow "hippies" updated.

One thing you can't allow yourself to do is become depressed. I'm afraid for the same thing but I'm only 2 weeks out so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

How far along are you? What pain are you having?

I also have trouble sleeping due to pain, I have stayed taking melatonin to help, but you should check with your dr to make sure it's ok.

Tammy

So sorry to hear your troubles lets hope that it's not the dreaded OA, my knees give me a little pain but I am trying to work on strengthening them squats etc.  Let's hope it's postive news and it alays your fears and that it's all related to your pre-op posture.

Please take a deep breath and remember your still heeling and It takes time to recover from major surgery. Take one day at a time and remember the best it yet to come. The day will come in a few months when you will be walking again without the previous pain of OA.  All the exercises we are required to do & just getting dressed struggling to do the simplest thing all can be hard on all our joints. It's hard on the knees and back especiall.

I tore the miniscus in my knee trying to move aroundand two bad ankles. My back is so week as the other joints and muscles. But once we begin to get stronger the muscles hold us up support our joints get stronger as we get thru Physio.

It takes many months to feel back to normal again. A great deal of the recovery takes place in the first two months, but complete return to normal takes longer. Bone around the metal parts keeps changing and remodeling for 1 to 2 years after surgery, which is why you can feel deep aches and can tell when the weather changes. After that time, the hip will feel normal.

i wish you the best recovery and remember to tighten the bum it's the best exercise to strengthen core muscles,

Request a pain clinic and therapy as soon as your in better shape. It's important to take pain meds on time and most docs tend to be very good about meds for sleep too. Keep insisting you need what your requesting and set another appt. Once the X-rays are done they may help address the pain issues . Please keep us posted on the xrays.

Heeling blessing sent ur way.

Hi Lors - keeping my fingers crossed your X-rays are ok . It's quite common to get referred pain in the knees from the hips - I did and X Ray showed knees were fine - my OA is very hip specific so am sure yours will be ok also . But it's worth him checking it all to be sure . Let me know how you get on xxxxx

The Hip Sisters have all offered some wonderful advice. I'm thinking of you, dear Laura.

Aloha, Soos
