I need some help! I smacked my forehead pretty hard on the corner of my dryer door while doing laundry. I now have a headache and dizziness!! Should I be worried??
Hi christine, I would not worry to much maybe, take a paracetamol and go to bed. It will be better in the morning.
I'm not a doctor but typically when you hit your head you don't want to go to sleep. That is the first thing you do not do. I can't say your fine or not as I am not a doctor but maybe taking some tylenol if there is pain and just relaxing for a bit might help. But when people hit there heads you want that person to stay awake for a while to make sure they are ok.
You should have it checked out by a doctor. It may be fine but it’s always better to have a head injury looked at and evaluated. To be on the safe side.
Thank you Jan... I went to the ER but feel frustrated. I know I am a frequent flyer... As they call someone with health anxiety and I've been to the ER too many times this year. But this time... Was needed. I went... And they didn't take my blood or no scan. They gave me a neurologist test and said it's probably a concussion and NOT everyone who comes in with a head injury gets a head scan. I feel like they weren't listening. What do you think? Should I trust them... I almost went to another ER!
If you've been to the ER and they've been told you you have a mild concussion, then yes you need to trust them. They are medical professionals, they'd be able to detect without bloods or scans of you were at risk with a more serious concussion or bleed. They would not have discharged you if you had any threat to your life. They take hippocratics oaths as doctors not to cause harm.
What you need to do now is trust that you've been checked out. Get someone to keep an eye on you over the next 24-48 hours but otherwise rest and take it easy. You'll be fine.
Remind yourself that it's your thoughts making you think it's something worse, not reality. I've hit my head numerous times, still here. Kids hot their heads all the time, they bounce back up. Just try to remain calm. You did the right thing by getting checked out, now try to accept they would not let you leave if it were a serious knock
Thank you caz for your response. It has helped me calm down and get a grip on reality. It's hard to resonalize these fears and I need to stop being so fearful and thinking that the docs we not trying to help me. I was very nervous about my history with hospitals and them not taking me seriously. Just need to breath
