First of all I need to apologise to the gay community as I am 100 percent pro LGBT . I know my question is going to come off rude but I need some reassurance .
I started a new job with a gay gentlemen - not a worry at all . He’s great . His health status is undisclosed yet he has mentioned in convo that he is unwell . Anyways I have a fear of hiv and just my luck this gentlemen is a diabetic and objects insulin at work . A week after I started my lunch breaks changed to him and I noticed ( although he jabs with his back turned ) that after every injection he throws something in the bin . My question is surely he wouldn’t be chucking out a needle in our lunch bin and secondly surely if I’d been pricked prior to avoid the bin once I seen what he was doing I would surely feel something yes ? I’m off work with a terrible illness , coughing , fever and achy limbs and my mind is going nuts . Again apologies to anyone who is taking this wrong . I do not assume gay people have diseases but when there is needles involved it has to cross my mind given the mis proper disposal I hate how judgey this sounds but I needed to ask . I’ve been doing so well .. haven’t been on here in ages
My question is have you touched the garbage can? I'm not gay but him being gay has nothing to do with HIV. People get HIV through transfusions and sharing needles. I know you meant nothing by it but his sexual orientation has nothing to do with it. If your worried just don't touch the garbage can. That simple.
Hi swat, Thankyou for your reply . I certainly know what you are saying and I wasn’t meaning to discriminate in any way . I used the garbage bin like normal until the day I realised he was throwing out . I assume I would of felt a needle if I touched one ?
Also does anyone know if diabetic needles are reusable as I’m hoping it’s not the needle he has been throwing in bin
I very much doubt he is throwing the needle in the bin probably just the cap or packaging. You would know if you pricked yourself with a needle. If it really bothers you why not ask him about it? Or just avoid the bin entirely the guy would have to be a total a hole to be throwing uncovered needles in a waste bin ... highly unlikely.
Yeah I’m hoping he wouldn’t be that stupid . I haven’t been there long enough to feel comfortable enough to ask . I have been very cautious since I noticed . I will continue to do so but having health anxiety makes me over think everything
